Welcome to Game8's ALICE Fiction PvE character tier list, where characters are ranked by their overall usefulness regardless of role, whether they are DPS, Support Buffer or Debuffer, or Healer. Read on to learn which characters are the best to use in the PvE campaign.
Best characters with highest DPS or highest utility and can generally clear most Main Quests in the game. You can be sure that they're the most OP characters in their class. | |
Characters that offer an extremely high degree of utility, although may not necessarily deal a lot of damage and may be more situational than SS-tier characters. Still, they're among the best units in their field. | |
Slightly lower DPS potential or utility than the higher tiers, but are still very powerful and good characters with useful skills. | |
B-tier characters are characters that have average damage potential (unless in specific situations) but can offer support or synergize with other characters to increase their attack and defense stats. | |
C-tier characters give a below-average performance in PvE and are not recommended to use for clearing the main story. |
Character | Tier Placement Reasoning |
---|---|
Ushiwakamaru | •Can damage 4 enemies at once, making her ideal for taking out many enemies at once. •Debuffs both the Phys. Atk and Phys. Def of multiple enemies, blunting their damage against your party. •Her passive skill makes her stronger if 4 enemies remain in battle. |
Lancelot | •Can deal a high amount of damage to one target. •Can self-buff Phys. Atk. •Has access to Buff-type Slayer skill. •Passive boosts Phys. Atk. when there are 3 Earth allies. |
Musashi | •Crash Skill at max level deals 38K+ damage. •Active Skill 1 can convert up to 9 of Musashi's panels and boosts her Phys. Atk. for 4 turns. •Active Skill 2 can convert up to 5 of an ally's panels into Musashi's panels, adds 3 seconds to the panel breaking phase, and gives a Defense-type Slayer buff. But this comes at the cost of 20% of her Phys. Def. •Passive greatly increases Phys. Atk. if Musashi is the only Attack-type ally. |
Qin Shi Huang | •High single target Phys./Earth DPS. •Has a Crash Skill and Active Skill that Debuff an enemy's Phys. Def. •His second Active Skill boosts his own Phys. Atk and makes enemies receive more damage. •His Passive Skill decreases his Quest-related enemy's Phys. Atk but activates only when there are 2 or more Earth element allies in his party. |
Archimedes | •Crash skill deals high damage but is spread across two targets. •Has access to a barrier skill that can block a certain amount of damage. •Passive is an automatic massive boost to Spec. Atk. with no conditions. |
Character | Tier Placement Reasoning |
---|---|
Kojiro | •Crash Skill deals high damage while buffing the Phys. Atk. of self and an ally. •Active Skill 1 extends the panel breaking phase and boosts Phys. Atk. of self and 1 ally. •Passive slightly boosts Phys. Atk. if there are 2 or more Water allies. |
Nightingale | •Acts as both the healer of the team as well as support through the use of skills that remove the status buffs of enemies on the field. •Her Passive Skill decreases the HP Recovery of her enemies. |
Perseus | •Can make self the target of attacks and grants a barrier that blocks a certain amount of damage. Excellent for the Underground. •Has skills that boost Spec. Def. making her great against any Special type enemy. |
Summer Style Neu | •A strong supporting character for Phys. Atk Folklore, Summer Style Neu boosts the Phys. Atk stat of her allies. •She can also increase the chances of a selected ally's panel during Attack Mode, allowing you to increase that ally's damage. |
Salieri | •Her Crash Skill increases the damage enemies receive from Special Attack-type Folklore like Cleopatra. •The rest of her skills undermine the Spec. Def and Spec. Atk stats of her enemies. •She can also cast Attack Bind on enemies, which prevents them from attacking for one turn. |
Wang | •Crash Skill hits and debuffs Spec. Def. of 3 targets. •Can decrease Spec. Def. of 4 enemies with Active Skill 1. •Can increase Spec. Atk. damage to 1 target for 2 turns. |
Cleopatra | •Deals high Spec/Earth DPS to 4 enemies. •Can buff self and 1 other Ally with Water-Slayer ability. •Can absorb her own panels to buff Spec. Atk. |
Nietzsche | •Crash Skill deals extremely high damage for a 2-star character. •Can boost Crash Skill damage even more with Active Skill 1. •Has access to a Recovery Slayer skill, making her effective against Bright Monas. |
Hippocrates | •Heals 1 ally with Crash Skill, although deals low damage to enemy targets. •Can remove defense debuffs and buff both Phys. and Spec. Def. •Can turn one of her own panels into a Skill Panel for an easy Crash Skill heal. |
Asclepius | •Crash Skill deals low damage but can remove all attack debuffs from 1 ally. •Can heal all active party members at once. •Also has a single target heal skill that removes debuffs. •Passive boosts HP recovery rate of 4 allies when there are 4 enemies. |
Himiko | •Can heal 3 allies except self. •Can reduce the recovery rate of an enemy by 50%. |
Rousseau | •Crash Skill deals high damage to one target and boosts the Spec. Atk. of 1 ally except self. •Can buff Spec. Atk. of 3 allies for 2 turns. •Can give 2 high Spec. Atk. allies the Attack-type Slayer ability. •Passive boosts Spec. Atk. of 4 allies if they are all the Special-type. |
Surtr | •Crash Skill deals high damage but is spread across 3 targets. Gives Surtr Burning Slayer and Oil Slayer effect. •Active Skill 1 inflicts 2 enemies with Burn. Active Skill 2 boosts Surtr's Phys. Atk. for 2 turns every time a Fire-type ally on the field activates a skill. •Passive boosts Phys. Atk. of self when at least 1 Wood-type enemy is on the field. |
Mathers | •Crash skill does decent damage but spread over 2 targets. •Can convert 1 of her own skill panels into one Lv. 1 or Lv. 3 Skill panel for Active Skill 1 and Active Skill 2, respectively. Also buffs Spec. and Phys. def of self. |
Toshizo | •Her multi-target attack can greatly enhance your party's damage against enemies, though she will have to be the only Earth/Buff-type folklore in your party due to her passive. |
Character | Tier Placement Reasoning |
---|---|
Neu | •Crash Skill deals decent damage but is spread across 2 enemies. •Can convert her own panels into Skill Panels while boosting Phys. Atk. of self and 1 ally. •Can lengthen the panel breaking phase and buff Phys. Def. of self and 1 high Phys. Atk. ally. •Passive boosts Phys. Atk. when there are 4 enemies. |
Gilles | •Has access to a bevy of skills that can give 3 allies Defense Slayer, Recovery Slayer, and Debuff Slayer. •Passive boosts Phys. Atk. and Phys. Def. if there are at least 2 Earth element allies with her on the field. |
Andersen | •Decreases the Phys. Atk of Physical Attack type enemies and lowers their Phys. Def. •Also decreases the Spec. Atk of Special type enemies while decreasing their Spec. Def. •Her passive skill lowers both the Phys. Def and Spec. Def of her enemies. |
Andromeda | •Has skills that buff both Spec. and Phys. Def., but characters with barrier skills or the ability to make themselves the target of enemy attacks are typically better. |
Scipio | •Has a barrier skill that can protect 3 party members from a set amount of damage. This is great for difficult boss battles and the Underground. •Can lengthen the panel breaking phase allowing you to get more damage in while reducing damage taken to your 2 lowest HP allies. |
Bismarck | • Lowers the Phys. Atk and Def. power of his enemies through the use of skills. •Makes his enemies more susceptible to attacks from Physical Attack-type Folklore. |
Pygmalion | •Can boost Spec. Atk. and and Spec. Def of 4 allies. •Can grant 1 ally a barrier that blocks a set amount of damage for 1 turn. |
Viviane | •Can inflict enemies with Virus and give self Virus Slayer. •Passive gives 4 allies Virus Slayer if there are 2 or more Debuff-type allies. •Can be effective with the right team, but requires some setting-up beforehand. |
Amadeus | •Crash Skill deals heavy damage against a single enemy. •Can also decrease the Spec. Def of her enemies, making them vulnerable to attacks from her allies. •Has a 60% chance to inflict Skill Bind on enemies, preventing them from using powerful skills. |
Joan | •Aside from dealing heavy damage with her Crash Skill, Joan can also boost the Phys. Atk power of her team depending on how many Dark element or Buff-type allies are present. •The same mechanic can also increase her own Phys. Atk power and lengthen the Attack Mode phase during turns. |
Longinus | •Crash Skill deals high damage to a single target. •Can convert one ally's panels into her own panels and boost Phys. Atk. •Can convert 2 of her own panels into her own Skill Panels and boost Phys. Def. •Passive boosts Crash Skill of self for each of her own broken panels (up to 12). |
Hercules | •Her Crash Skill inflicts damage on three enemies in one turn, making her deadly to a full party of enemies. •Her first Active Skill increases her own Phys. Def while decreasing the Phys. Atk stats of her enemies, blunting their attacks on her allies. •Grants a barrier that blocks a certain amount of damage to herself and another ally. •Her Passive Skill increases her Phys. Atk if her phys. def stat is up as well. |
Summer Lovin' Andromeda | •Gives healing continuously to allies for three turns, making her a viable alternative to other healers like Nightingale. •Her Phys. Def buffs will also keep allies with comparatively low Phys. Def alive through battle, making her particularly useful for the Underground. |
Goethe | • A good support for Spec. Atk-type characters if they're going to go against Phys. Atk-type enemies because of her Crash Skill and 2nd Active Skill. •Also gives support to Spec. Atk characters by converting her panels into their panels during attack mode. •Her passive reduces damage to her Attack-type allies, though only between the start of the battle and the 2nd turn. |
Faust | •A Spec. Atk, anti-Light unit that can deal heavy damage, especially if you activate her first skill. However, this comes at the cost of 30% HP. She can become particularly useful against PvE Light-element enemies, though other Dark element characters would be more useful in that regard (like Ushiwakamaru) unless you need a Spec. Atk-type character in particular. |
Kanryusai | •An anti-Phys. Atk debuffer that will be very useful at blunting Physical Attacks from enemies. The only thing that cuts her effectiveness somewhat is the chance of her first Active Skill failing. This limits her usefulness in both PvE and PvP, but overall she is a decent unit to use if you have her. |
Character | Tier Placement Reasoning |
---|---|
Captain Drake | •Crash Skill deals extremely high damage but deals self-damage. •Can boost own Crit Rate and Crit Damage. •Can heal self with Active Skill. |
Galen | •Has skills that can remove debuffs from a single ally. •Can heal a single ally while removing debuffs. •Can heal 2 allies while boosting recovery rate by absorbing her own panels. |
Benkei | •Can make self the target of attacks. •Has skills that reduce damage and buff Phys. Def., and also inflict Attack Bind on 1 enemy for 2 turns. •A decent option for a defensive party, but Perseus ultimately outclasses Benkei. |
Robin Hood | •Skills revolve around increasing her party's Crit. Rate so they can deal high amounts of damage to enemies. •She also decreases the Crit. Resist of her enemies, making them more vulnerable to critical attacks. |
Jack the Ripper | •Mainly focuses on dealing damage to enemies afflicted by status ailments, making her a bit situational, but can synergize with characters that inflict status ailments. |
Achilles | •Crash Skill deals decent damage. •But her other skills are primarily centered around countering Wood-type enemies, making Achilles a bit too situational for use in the Main Quest where you'll face a variety of enemies from different elements. |
Antoinette | •Crash Skill inflicts enemies with Oil that increases Burn Damage. •Can inflict enemies with Burn with Active Skill 1. •Can boost Phys. Atk. of Fire-type allies. Best paired with Musashi and Surtr. |
Sharizotan | •Crash Skill deals decent damage and inflicts Bomb on 1 enemy. •Has access to Bomb Slayer ability making subsequent attacks much more powerful. |
Michelangelo-B | •Crash Skill deals low damage, but boosts the Spec. Def of 1 ally. •Has skills that focus on buffing Spec. Def. and reducing damage, but other defensive characters are typically more effective. |
Kenshin | •Crash Skill deals low damage. •Can buff a single ally and reduce damage taken regardless of type for 1 turn while at the same time boosting their Phys. Def. for 3 turns. •Can further reduce damage taken regardless of type with Active Skill 2. |
Eurystheus | •A dedicated anti-Water element unit whose skills grant Water-slayer buffs to her allies. This is on top of the Earth element's strength over Water types. •Another skill reduces damage from Water types to her allies. •Useful in situations where your party is up against high-damage water like the Andromeda boss in Chapter 5 or other water element enemies, but only them. |
Summer Vacation Andersen | • A Phys. Atk and Def debuffer who is great to pair with other Phys. Atk type Folklore. |
Character | Tier Placement Reasoning |
---|---|
Wayland | •Has skills that boost Phys. Def. of allies. •A decent defensive character at the start of the game and can synergize with Benkei, but ultimately Perseus or Pygmalion will be better for defense. |
Hannibal | •Skills primarily focus on inflicting Virus and damaging over time, although other damage options will be quicker and more effective in most situations. That being said, Hannibal can synergize with Viviane's skill set pretty well, as the latter can grant 'Virus Slayer' buffs to allies. |
