Is It Important to Catch a 6IV Ditto?

Catching a 6IV Ditto Is Difficult

We do not recommend finding a 6 IV Ditto in the game because it is extremely difficult to find. If you're lucky enough to stumble upon one in a Tera Raid Battle, do your best to catch it since they're hard to come by.

Any Pokemon Can Get 6 IVs Using a Bottle Cap

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet SV - Delibird Presents.png

Bottle Caps can now be bought for ₽20,000 from Delibird Presents shops that can be found in Cascarrafa, Levincia, and Mesagoza.

This item will be available when you have 6 Gym Badges and using it on one of your Pokemon that's at least level 50 will max out one of its IV.

It's a lot more efficient to get stronger Pokemon this way in comparison to getting the elusive 6 IV Ditto.

It's Still Best to Catch Any Ditto in the Wild

It's still best to catch any Ditto you see in the wild even if it isn't a 6 IV or 5 IV one because this Pokemon is still very useful for breeding.

Dittos are invaluable for breeding, as you can breed most Pokemon if you pair them with a Ditto at a picnic.

Ditto can breed with any Pokemon from any Egg Group except the Undiscovered Egg Group and other Dittos. They can breed with either gender as well, and can even breed with Pokemon without genders such as Rotom or Magnezone.

Is a 5IV Ditto Okay?

Yes, 5IV Dittos are Still Great

A 5 IV Ditto is still great to have because then you'll only need a few Bottle Caps to make the Pokemon you breed from the 5 IV Ditto stronger. Thus, you don't need burn your wallet to buy it!

Try to catch a Ditto from 6☆ Tera Raid Battles since Pokemon that are caught this way are guaranteed to have 5 IVs.

Although the odds of it happening are quite low, it's still best to catch a 6 IV Ditto from a 6☆ Tera Raid Battle if you stumble upon one.

In some specific cases, a 5 IV Ditto may be better than a 6 IV one, when breeding for specific IV combinations for Competitive Matches.

Best 5 IV Ditto Stats

Non-6 IV Stat Purpose
0 Speed IVs Trick Room Teams
0 Attack IVs Reduced damage from Foul Play, and self-inflicted confused damage.

When breeding for Pokemon to be used in competitive battles, 5 IV Dittos with 0 IVs in Speed or Attack may be used to pass on similar stats to offsprings.

0 Speed IV Pokemon are commonly used in Trick Room teams, to increase the chances of attacking first, especially against mirror matchups, and 0 Attack IV Pokemon are common for Supports or Special Attackers, to minimize the damage from Foul Play.

Find a Ditto in 6 Star Tera Raid Battles

Before you start looking for a 6 IV Ditto in 6☆ Tera Raid Battles, it is important to understand that your chances of finding one is still slim, and a 5 IV Ditto is a lot easier to get as Pokemon from 6☆ raids are guaranteed to have at least 5 IVs.

You can compromise by catching a 5 IV Ditto instead because it's still good enough for breeding stronger Pokemon.

How to Get a 5 IV or 6 IV Ditto in 6☆ Tera Raid Battles
1
First thing you need to do is find a 6☆ Tera Raid Battle. These are characterized by black crystals scattered all over the Paldea region after you finish the game.
2 Next, interact with the crystal to check if it's a Ditto.
3 If it's not a Ditto, change the date on your Switch to the next day.

Do this by going to the Home Screen then changing the date and time from the Settings menu. This will cause the black crystal to move to a different location.
4 Find a 6☆ Tera Raid den again and check if it's a Ditto. If not, repeat the process again until you find one.
5 Once you find one, battle it and check if the Ditto has 6 or 5 IVs once it has been caught.

You may proceed to keep it if you are content with a 5 IV Ditto if you found one. If not and you are really aiming for a 6 IV Ditto, find another 6☆ Tera Raid den and repeat the process all over again.

As a Host, Use Weak Pokemon in Ditto Tera Raids

In Tera Raids, Ditto will transform into whatever Pokemon the host is using. This can be exploited to force Ditto to change into a weak Pokemon like Magikarp or into another Ditto, and let your allies deal damage and potentially one-shot it.

Says 6★ black crystal raids guarantee a 5IV Pokemon, but in the last step for manipulating Ditto's appearance says to battle it, check if it's 5IV or 6IV, and if not, repeat steps? I don't understand, is 5IV at minimum guaranteed or not?
