Receivers are have been removed and are no longer in MW3. Despite all attachment types from MW2 carrying over, Receivers have been given the axe since they did not really offer much by way of gun customization even if they were a feature in MW2.
Instead of an "attachment" that simply switched out your gun entirely, MW3 devs went with a different method using Conversion Kit Aftermarket Parts. When equipped, these Conversion Kits change the entire identity of your weapon, allowing you switch up gameplay after mastering the weapon.

Weapon Receivers were a new type of attachment introduced when MW2 created the weapon platform system. Each weapon platform had a family of guns that shared similar bodies while offering different functions (e.g., AR, SMG, LMG). When you equipped a weapon receiver to your gun, it changed it into a different type of gun within the same platform.
