While Cherna isn't a witch that players will normally have any trouble facing in modes such as Arena, she does present a real challenge when fought in modes such as the main story. There, her inflated stats, Fainted and Bleed debuffs, and passive life steal, can easily overwhelm the unprepared.

Cherna Skill Analysis

Cherna's unassuming passive is perhaps the most annoying part about facing her in PvE. Due to her massive, inflated bulk, Cherna can easily recover the HP she has lost while most of your team bumbles around with their random-targeting skills. Note that this HP Drain effect applies to all direct damage, which includes her basic attacks. That means she can heal on practically every turn.

Fortunately, there are a variety of methods to stymie or offset her recovery; all of which are available for players even during the early levels. One such method is to simply stop her from dealing damage through action-hindering debuffs. Offsetting her healing through damage-over-time effects such as Poison or Bleed can work, too.

Although Cherna's overall damage isn't high by any means, the resulting bulk from her indiscriminate life steal and supplemental damage from Bleed can slowly stack up and cause large problems late into the match.

This is easily addressed by using witches that can purge debuffs such as Sivi.

At large enough level gaps, players will have to prepare for the longer fight against Cherna teams in PvE. For that reason, fielding Fenrir and Mertillier, who can repeatedly and consistently reduce your attackers' skill cooldowns, will allow players to overwhelm Cherna's annoying HP Drain.

Tips for Beating Cherna

Stack on PM Def Break

Cherna is only troublesome in PvE matches with a large stat discrepancy between her party and that of the player. Hence, stacking PM Def Break through runes and augmenting the dark element on the attacker's chest armor is a very reliable way to increase their damage.

Go On The Offensive

Due to how Cherna can simply heal back the HP she has lost throughout the game, only very few attrition-based teams that don't rely on Fia can emerge victorious, especially considering the inflated stats of PvE enemies. On the other hand, pushing through with brute force works quite well, as long as the player has enough stats and the strategy to compensate.

Use Crit Runes And Buffs

PvE enemies do not use runes. Hence, their Crit RES stats are always at their base values, which makes them all vulnerable to critical hits. Witches like Florence and Merlyn can take full advantage of this, quickly allowing players to overwhelm Cherna's healing with high-power attacks.
