Soltina can dish out a decent amount of magical damage with skills like Ice Spine. Her survivability is also quite high, considering her ability to remove debuffs from herself and her strong Multi-Barrier skill. But her most troublesome ability is her capacity to inflict two kinds of action-hindering debuffs, which prevent your allies from moving on their turn.

Soltina Skill Analysis

Ice Spine

Snow Dream

Both Snow Dream and Ice Spine deal surprisingly large magical damage, with Ice Spine reaching incredible modifiers at max level. Both skills also possess crowd control effects through the Sleep or Fainted debuffs, hindering their ability to act.

Unfortunately, due to the nature of debuffs, most Soltina builds will lack some form of offensive runes in their kit to maximize their chances of inflicting Sleep or Fainted. This is usually present as missing ATK and PM Def Break runes in favor of Debuff ACC and SPD runes. Additionally, her debuffs come with specific requirements to meet, such as needing to deal with a critical hit or having higher MAG than the target.

Sisterly Bond

Additionally, Soltina has incredibly troublesome skills that both increase her survivability and damage. Most notably, her Sisterly Bond skill grants her multiple instances of a Multi-Barrier, which negates damage if any hit exceeds 10% of her HP. She can also stack a massive amount of critical hit chance through her passives.

Due to the nature of Multi-Barriers and most witches' attacks, these skills essentially render Soltina all but undefeatable at the early stages of the fight. However, because My Stuffed Bear only activates when Soltina gets afflicted with at least two debuffs, she can still be stopped if she is only affected with one.

Witches to Counter Soltina

Soltina Hard Counters

Cordie

Cordie is an excellent counter against Soltina's active skills due to being completely immune to all action-hindering debuffs. However, Cordie will have difficulty dealing with Soltina's Multi-Barrier early on in a match.

Witch Illya

While Multi-Barrier is effective at preventing stray hits and AoE damage from defeating Soltina, witches with specific targeting priorities on their multi-hit attacks, such as Witch Illya, can shred her barrier and potentially knock her out immediately.

Perhaps the best counter for Soltina is a faster, stronger Soltina. A better copy of Soltina is entirely immune to the enemy's Fainted debuff by having a larger MAG stat while being quicker to apply the Critical Rate debuff on them first and prevent them from inflicting the Sleep debuff.

Having a team that specializes in unhindered damage and throwing debuffs of their own makes for a great counter against teams that rely on action-hindering debuffs.

An easy way to stop the need to deal with Soltina is to simply remove her from play immediately. This can be achieved by using Witch Illya and positioning her right in front of the enemy Soltina before the match starts.

Later in the game, crit-reliant attackers will struggle against Soltina, depending on how their speeds match up. For example, if Florence is hit by Soltina before she can use her Scarlet Shimmer, then it will be extremely difficult for Florence to activate her skill's additional damage properties.

Witches that decrease your allies' skill cooldowns might simply waste their effects if your damage dealers don't get to move on their turn.

Valeriede

Witches who need to fully utilize the developing situation of battle, such as Valeriede's maintenance of HP, should be avoided. Taking advantage of what they rely on would be difficult while Soltina keeps throwing her debuffs.

Tips for Beating Soltina

Stack CRIT RES and Debuff RES

For the most part, it's almost impossible to overtake an enemy Soltina's MAG value unless the unit hit is an Attacker-type Sorcerer such as Artie. This means that her skill's condition requiring her MAG to be higher than the target's will activate more often than not. Hence, the most reliable way to fight against her action-hindering debuffs would be to stack Debuff RES and CRIT RES.

Use Random-Target Damage Dealers

Every player who needs to defeat Soltina must get past her Multi-Barrier first. If they lack the focus fire of certain units such as Witch Illya, they can at least try to bring it down quickly by using random-target damage dealers and hope that it hits Soltina often.

Build For The Long Game

Having Soltina as your enemy essentially guarantees a fight to last for more than several turns, unless you have ways to focus fire on her. Hence, having a team that can survive your enemies' attacks during the time you're recoving from her debuffs will prove useful.
