Once outside Tail Cave, go back to the village and the kids will ask your help in rescuing BowWow from the moblins. This part can be skipped.
Anyway, lift the nearby cuccoo on the right and carry it with you. You can put it down by pressing A if you need to use your sword or other items. Be careful not to hit the cuccoo with your sword, though, as it will try to run away.
Carry the cuccoo to where you obtained the Tail Key in the Mysterious Forest. Cut the grass on either side of the chest to open up a path. You will encounter a moblin on your way so you can put down the cuccoo first before attacking the moblin with your sword or the Magic Powder. Head north and throw the cuccoo to the other side of the holes. Do not worry about accidentally throwing the cuccoo into one of the holes as they will fly back up.
Lift the cuccoo again and lure the like-like towards the signpost so it will corner you. When the like-like draws nearer to you and the signpost, use this setup to perform the BowWow Skip. You have to escape the like-like quickly so your shield will not be eaten. After landing on the cuccoo, jump to the trees on the south then another jump to the trees on the east.
Make your way to the east to Goponga Swamp and land on the first wall of spiked plants that you will see. Go a little north, east, northeast, then jump to the next wall of spiked plants on the left. Walk to the northern end of the wall and jump northeast to the next wall. Move to the right so you can jump onto the plants blocking the dungeon entrance. Get back down and enter the Bottle Grotto.
Head north and light the torches using the Magic Powder. This will open the door on the right.
Enter the opened door and defeat the two stalfos, doing so will make a small key appear.
Head east, hit the switch to lower the walls, head south, then perform a jump attack to hit the switch near the chest. Open the chest for another small key.
Move to the room on the right, jump your way to the northern room, then east to the room that has a locked door. Unlock that door and enter.
In this room, move the two blocks toward each other to make a staircase appear on the top right side. Go down the stairs.
Make your way to the left and climb the ladder at the end.
Head north to the room where you will fight a hinox.
Defeating him will leave a fairy behind and a portal to appear. Enter the room on the right.
Walk north then jump your way to the right side of the room and enter the door. Proceed to the northern room and unlock the door on the left. Enter the door afterwards.
In this room, light up the nearest torch so you can hit and defeat the two boos to make a chest appear. Open the chest to receive a Power Bracelet.
Go back to the previous room and make your way eastward using the upper side of the room. Ignore the first chest as it only contains rupees. Hit the switch to lower the blue block then hit it again to reach the second chest. Loot the chest for a small key. Hit the switch again so you can proceed to the right. Jump on the other side to land on the area past the red blocks. Enter the opened door at the bottom right part of the room.
In this room, move the center right block down then the other block left to free the pols voice then throw a pot at it to defeat it. Next, slash down the keese then lastly, the stalfos. This will make a chest appear so grab the Nightmare Key inside it.
Back at the previous room, unlock the door on the right, and enter.
Use the pots around to defeat the enemies in this area, especially the two pols voices. After you defeat all the enemies inside, a staircase will appear so use it to descend.
Step on the platform to lower it down. Proceed to the left and lift the jar. Take it to the second platform to lower it down. Climb up the ladder to ascend to the next room.
Jump over the gaps to reach the locked door so you can use the Nightmare Key in it. Move to the next room where you will fight Genie.
There is no faster way on going through the first half so just dodge and attack until you manage to throw the jar to the wall three times which will make it break. During the second half, which will make Genie split in two, wait until he appears and quickly slash him twice before he disappears. Wait again until he reappears. Then, immediately charge for a spin attack and position it properly to make it hit twice. He should be defeated this time around.
After the battle, pick up the Heart Container that will appear. Continue to the next room and get the Conch Horn to complete the dungeon.
