Tantarian Boss Battle Guide

Details

Tantarian is a difficult one. The battle has two phases, one where Tantarian is hidden inside its book and another when the player finds Tantarian. Finding Tantarian will be difficult, and hitting Tantarian with a physical attack when you find it will cause it to hide inside the book again.

Finding Tantarian

Tantarian is found between pages 150-200. Each time the party inflicts damage to Tantarian while it is closed will add up to a hidden counter that resets to 0 everytime total damage dealt exceeds 200. This number will reveal the page Tantarian is hiding in. The goal of the player is to hit a number between 150-200 to reveal Tantarian.

Moveset

When Tantarian is hidden, it uses the moves Edge, Doom, and Paper Storm. Paper Storm and Edge are Tantarian's deadliest moves. Paper Storm deals massive damage to the whole party while Edge deals more damage than Paper Storm to a single target.

While revealed, Tantarian will only use Poison, which can easily be blocked by the Antibody ability.

Strategy

Remember the damage output of your character's moves and use those to add up your total damage so that equals between 150-200. Pause the game if computing becomes hard while battling the boss. Once Tantarian is revealed, do not use normal attacks, as this will cause Tantarian to hide again . It is often a good strategy to only use Vivi's Fira magic to damage Tantarian while its revealed.
