How to Stack Objects

You can stacks obects in Baldur's Gate 3 (BG3) by clicking the object using your mouse and dragging it on top of another. Check out this guide to how to stack objects, including all the uses of object stacking in the game.

Drag the Object on Top of Another Object

Select the object you wish to stack and hold it with your left mouse button. From there, drag the item and place it on top of another object. Your character needs to be near the object for you to be able to drag it.

You could also select items in your inventory that you could stack on top of one another. Simply select it from your invetory, and right click on the item to choose the Drop option from the menu.

Strength Influences the Distance You Can Drag Objects

Naturally, dragging objects and stacking them will require your character to be physically strong. A higher Strength ability score allows you to move objects farther in one go. This is necessary when dragging objects towards your intended stacking location.

Reach Inaccessible Places

Stacking objects such as crates and climbing on them will help you access areas that are too high to reach. Just right click on the crate using your mouse, and select the Climb On option from the menu.

You can either stack the wooden crates in a scalable fashion, or use the Jump Action to reach the top of the objects you've stacked. The surfaces of the stacked objects should accommodate enough space for your character.

Take Advantage of Higher Ground

You can also stack objects so that you'll get a height advantage from your opponents. Melee attackers will have a hard time reaching you while your character is perched on higher ground casting spells or using long range attacks without worry.

Enhance Explosions From Hazard-Filled Objects

Stacking objects, such as barrels filled with alcohol, and hitting them with an Arrow of Fire can widen the range and intensity your planned explosions.

Strategically placed them on the field, and position yourself from as far away from the area of effect as possible. Make sure your arrow trajectory is in range to detonate the traps you've set for your enemies.
