Cormag Best IVs

Recommended IVs

Stat Superboon/Superbane IV Recommendation
HP (19) Normal HP ★★★☆☆
Atk (28) No Attack IV ★★★★★
Spd (8) No Spd IV ★★★★☆
Def (9) Def Bane ★★★☆☆
Res (6) Res Boon ★★☆☆☆

◯ = Stat gains +4 with a superboon, ✕= Stat goes down by -4 with a superbane, - = No assets or flaws

See the IV Checker for All Units Trait Fruits—How to Change IVs

When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.

Neutral IVs by default!

As a hero obtainable only through Grand Hero Battle, Cormag will always have neutral IVs by default. The only way to access IVs for this unit is through using Trait Fruits.

+Atk/-Res

The best IVs for Cormag are +Atk and -Res. A higher Atk stat allows Cormag to deal more damage. His Res is of less importance so it is safe to take as a bane.

+Spd for a +10 Merge

We recommend a +Spd IV when merging Cormag to 10. At +10 Merges, Cormag's Atk will reach such high levels that pushing it up higher is a waste. At this point, it would be better to opt with a +Spd IV instead to help him take less follow-up attacks and allow him to make some follow-up attacks on his own. It will be more efficient in increasing his overall damage.

Cormag Best Weapon Refinement

Effect of Cormag's Refined Weapon

Exclusive Weapon Effect from Refining (Special Effect Type)
SP: 400
Might: 16 Range: 1 HP: 3
Accelerates Special trigger (cooldown count-1). If unit initiates combat or is within 2 spaces of an ally, grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res+4 to unit during combat, and also, if foe's HP ≥ 75% at start of combat, unit makes a guaranteed follow-up attack during combat.
At start of combat, if unit's HP > 25%, grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res+4 to unit, neutralizes effects that inflict "Special cooldown charge -X" on unit, and reduces damage from foe's attacks by 15% of unit's Def during combat (excluding area-of-effect Specials).
Arena Medal:500 Divine Dew:200

We recommend the Special Effect Refine for Revenger Lance

Refined Revenger Lance grants special acceleration, a guaranteed follow-up attack, bonus stats in combat, neutralizes effects that slow down Cormag's Special charges, and true damage reduction equal to 15% of Cormag's Def.

The most important part of this refine is the true damage reduction. This effect is present in multiple formidable tanks in the game such as Askr and Brave Dimitri, and it aids Cormag just as much as those heroes.

Cormag is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Def stat.

Cormag Strengths

Dull Close 3 Neutralizes Bonuses on Melee Foes

Dull Close 3 neutralizes the bonuses of the foe if they are a melee unit. Even if Cormag has low magical defenses, Dull Close makes him deceptively durable against units that rely on buffs like the Fortify and Rally archetype buffs. Of course, this further improves his physical defenses against physical melee units too. This skill has great coverage so it can be the cornerstone of a good Cormag build.

Can Buff Regardless of Position

Def Opening 3 grants +6 Def to the ally with the highest Def stat on the map, regardless of Cormag's position in relation to that ally. This makes him a great support unit for high Def powerhouses such as Idunn or Caineghis.

If highest Def is tied between multiple units, they will all be buffed! Make use of Sacred Seals and skills to try and balance the Def stats of your units.

Cormag Weaknesses

Weak to bows

As a flying unit, Cormag takes 1.5x damage from bows and weapons effective on flying units. Be sure to keep them out of the range of archers and leave them to other units.
Heroes with Effective Skills

Low Res

Cormag's Res only sits at 23 at Lv.40. This makes it easy for magic users to take him out. Be mindful of Cormag's positioning in relation to magical units that can easily take him out.
