It's a matter of reading her attack patterns, you don't have to spam it really fast. It's a decent normal hit aerial move that can heal you whole party and recover the yellow gauge. Also learn to use Heavy attack right away while on gauge to keep on healing as you mention the same basic attacks you hate.

It's not the downside on Verina. It's your own skill issue.
My only main downsides on Verina is her clunky basic attacks. Each time I rapidly pressing attack button her hits are always too slow to move or execute making it even harder to time its parry and dodge.
that how it should be. Genshin is just a kid game that only make u brain rot.
Why is everything so complicated in this game? Mid air attack right before touching ground? How do you even time that right? And all those combos and rotations. So is she now a good character or not if you can't play the "correct" way?

The new Qiqi in WuWa I believe is Lingyang. Verina buffs and heals a lot so she's way better than Qiqi.
