You can upgrade shops by getting max ratings and spending Gotchi in Tamagotchi Plaza. See how to get max ratings here, and how much Gotchi is needed to upgrade to Metchi, Gotchi, and Royal levels!

To upgrade your Shops to the next level, you must obtain a certain number of Max Ratings on your shop management mini-games. The required number of Max Ratings needed for each upgrade increases as your shop levels up, and the difficulty of each mini-game increases as well!

Once you've obtained the required number of max ratings from regular customers, Prince Tamahiko will give you a qualifier request which you should ace for you to upgrade your shop to the next level!
Should you fail satisfying Prince Tamahiko with his request, he will visit your shop once more after two getting max ratings on orders in the same shop!

After getting a max rating from Prince Tamahiko with his qualifier request, the Tamagotchi manager gives you the option of whether or not you want to proceed with upgrading the shop. We recommend that you proceed, provided you have the required of Gotchis to pay Rudoutchi, as this effectively progress Tamahiko Town, as well!

As you upgrade your shops, you also unlock additional mini-game tools, menus, and other parts of the mini-game to help you satisfy requests from your customers. The difficulty of the mini-games increase alongside these added features, so make sure to take your time reorienting yourself with them to get perfect rating all the time!

Aside from function, upgrading your shop also includes improvement on its aesthetics. Each shop's upgraded designs vary from one another, so make sure to upgrade all of them to make Tamahiko Town livelier, and more pleasing to the eyes!

Once all shops have been upgraded to Royal status, you will be able to celebrate with your fellow Tamagotchis! Check with Picochutchi first to see if your progress is sufficient enough before the event triggers!
Note that the Sushi, Shuriken and Sushi Shuriken Shops do not need to be upgraded if you are on the Switch 2 version of the game as they do not gain reputation scores unlike the other shops.
