Heart Piece Locations: All 32 Pieces of Heart

There are 32 Heart Pieces in The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening for the Nintendo Switch that can be used to increase your maximum hearts. See where to find each Piece of Heart, as well as a map of all 32 Heart Pieces locations in this guide!

	Area: West Mabe Village Required Item(s): Sword Jump down the well just above the Village Library in Mabe Village. From there you will be transported to a small cave with the hidden Piece of Heart.

	Area: Mabe Village Required Item(s): Rupees You can receive a Piece of Heart in the Trendy Game. It is available as a reward by default.

	Area: Mabe Village Required Item(s): Rupees Once you get enough prizes at Trendy Game, another Piece of Heart will spawn as an obtainable reward.

	Area: Mabe Village Required Item(s): Rupees Obtained while playing the fishing minigame. Catching a little fish for the first time will reward you a Piece of Heart.

	Area: Mabe Village Required Item(s): Rupees Catching a fish 30 inches or bigger will reward you an extra Piece of Heart as a reward in the fishing pond mini game in Mabe Village.

	Area: Mabe Village Required Item(s): Rupees You can purchase the Piece of Heart in the Shop inside Mabe Village for 200 Rupees. This item is available by default and can be bought at the start of the game.

	Area: Koholint Prairie Required Item(s): Roc's Feather You can receive Roc's Feather inside Tail Cave, which can be used to jump on to the small area surrounded by pot holes in Koholint Prairie just above the Witch's House. Here you can find a Piece of Heart in the grass.

	Area: Tabahl Wasteland Required Item(s): Roc's Feather In Tabahl Wasteland, South of Dampe's Shack (very close to Crazy Tracy's) you can find a Piece of Heart behind the tree. You will need Roc's Feather to jump over the pot holes to grab the Piece of Heart.

	Area: Mysterious Forest Required Item(s): Power Bracelet Near the moblins in Mysterious Forest you will find a cave (which you previously entered to get the toadstool). Push the rocks blocking the way and lift the skull with your Power Bracelet to receive the Piece of Heart.

	Area: Ukuku Prairie Required Item(s): Secret Seashells Deliver 5 Secret Seashells to Seashell Mansion and you will be rewarded a Piece of Heart.

	Area: Ukuku Prairie Required Item(s): Power Bracelet West of Ukuku Prairie near Mabe Village you will find a cave, push the stones aside and lift the skulls to get the Piece of Heart.

	Area: Pothole Field Required Item(s): Pegasus Boots Upon entering the cave inside Richard's Villa, head north and you will find a different another exit. Go towards the north east side of the field near the Slime Key, and from there you will spot the Piece of Heart. Use your boots to dash and then jump to the other side and grab it.

	Area: Ukuku Prairie Required Item(s): Pegasus Boots, Bomb North east of the Ukuku Prairie Portal, you will find a cracked wall. Use bombs to destroy the wall. Inside you will be blocked by obstacles that can only be destroyed using the Pegasus Boots. At the end of the cave you will see a treasure chest containing rupees. Above the treasure chest you will find another cracked wall. Use another bomb to destroy the cracked wall to find the hidden Piece of Heart.

	Area: Koholint Prairie Required Item(s): Bomb, Pegasus Boots, Power Bracelet Just below the Witch's Hut in Koholint Prairie, you will see stones blocking the stairs leading to the cave. Use your Power Bracelet to get inside, and once inside on the right side of the cave you will find a cracked stone obstacle. Use a bomb to shatter the stone. Using your Pegasus Boots, dash and jump towards the next platform (you can also use hookshot if it is available) and receive the Piece of Heart.

	Area: Animal Village Upon entering Animal Village, go south and spot a path between two trees. When the path splits, go north and follow the fence behind the houses, leading to the Piece of Heart.

	Area: Yarna Desert Required Item(s): Bomb Going to the center of the quicksand in Yarna Desert will bring you to a cave with a cracked wall on the north side. Use a bomb to destroy the wall, enter the room and you will find this Piece of Heart.

	Area: Tabahl Wasteland Arranging and clearing the 4th dungeon (titled 'Fill Up Your Hearts') in Dampe's Shack will reward you a Piece of Heart upon completion.

	Area: Tal Tal Heights Required Item(s): Flippers In Tal Tal Heights just above the raft shop, you will find a cave in the water. Inside the cave you will see a an item underwater. Use your Flippers to dive down and grab the Piece of Heart.

	Area: Rapids Ride Required Item(s): Rupees In Tal Tal Heights, go to the Raft Shop and start the Rapids Race. Finishing Rapids Race under 36 seconds will reward you a Piece of Heart. Use the Hookshot to navigate quickly around the track.

	Area: Rapids Ride Required Item(s): Rupees You can find a Piece of Heart inside the Rapids Ride track. Start the Rapids Ride and navigate around the track. Use the Hookshot to cling onto the west most side of the Rapids Ride track. Here you will find an island with a Piece of Heart.

	Area: Kanlet Castle Required Item(s): Flippers You will find a Piece of Heart underwater at the left side of the bridge entrance in Kanlet Castle. Here, you need to dive using the flippers. You can jump from the north east side of the castle and swim around behind the castle.

	Area: Ukuku Prairie Required Item(s): Pegasus Boots, Flippers South of Seashell Mansion in Ukuku Prairie, you will find stairs leading to a cave. Inside the cave you will find some areas with deep waters blocked by obstacles breakable by the Pegasus Boots. After destroying the obstacles, use dive to grab the sunken Piece of Heart.

	Area: Martha's Bay Required Item(s): Flippers Inside Martha's Bay you will find a Telephone Booth in the center. Head east of the Telephone Booth and you will see some stairs leading to an underground cave surrounded by pot holes. From there you will need flippers to dive down for the Piece of Heart.

	Area: Martha's Bay Required Item(s): Flippers In Martha's Bay just below the Catfish's Maw you will find another Piece of Heart underwater. Use dive to grab the sunken Piece of Heart.

	Area: Tal Tal Mountain Range Required Item(s): Bomb From the rooster house, on Tal Tal Mountain Range, use your hookshot on the boxes laid across the wooden bridge to get to the other side. Go left and cut the patch of grass to reveal a hidden staircase. The southern wall can be bombed to reveal another room. Go through the doorway in the right here to pick up heart piece #25.

	Area: Mt. Tamaranch Required Item(s): Power Bracelet Upon entering the cave that leads to the Tal Tal Mountain Heights. You will find stones and breakable crystals blocking the way. Push the stones out of the way and break the purple crystals using your sword to get the Piece of Heart. Make sure you are trying to solve the puzzle from the stairs entrance, as it is not possible to solve it coming from the west.

	Area: Tal Tal Mountain Range Upon entering Western Tal Tal Mountain Range climb up its peak and cross the bridge. From there, jump down the ledge and head straight to the alley on the left where you will find this Piece of Heart.

	Area: Tal Tal Mountain Range Above Turtle Rock you will see a small area connected to a bridge. You can find the Piece of Heart hidden in the grass there.

	Area: Tabahl Wasteland Arrange and clear the 8th dungeon (titled 'Passageway Central') in Dampe's Shack. He will reward you with yet another Piece of Heart upon completion.

	Area: Animal Village Required Item(s): Bomb, Hookshot On the north east part of Animal Village behind the fences, you will see a cracked wall. Use bombs to open the path. Upon entering you will notice another cracked wall, so once again use your bombs to enter the room. Proceed inside and you will see a cracked stone on the other side. Throw a bomb to destroy the stone, opening a path for your Hookshot to target. Go back to the previous room, but this time go left. From here you will see a large hole where you need to use your Hookshot to grab the Piece of Heart.

	Area: Mysterious Forest Required Item(s): Hookshot, Power Bracelet The cave can be found on the north part of the Mysterious Forest, blocked by 3 stones. Use your power bracelet to lift the stones and access the cave. Once inside you can use your Pegasus Boots to access the treasure chest containing the rupees. However you will not be able to reach the Piece of Heart using only your Pegasus Boots. Use your Hookshot to reach the last platform to receive the Piece of Heart.

	Area: Rapids Ride Required Item(s): Flippers, Hookshot Upon finishing Rapids Ride, you will be at the bottom of the waterfalls. Go straight to the left and enter a cave nearby. This cave leads you back to the Rift Shop. Inside the cave you will need Flippers and the Hookshot to grab the Piece of Heart.

	Area: Tabahl Wasteland Arrange and clear the 12th dungeon (titled 'Ticking Clock') in Dampe's Shack on the Chamber Dungeon Challenges and you will receive a Heart Container.

What is the Max Number of Hearts?

Maximum of 20 Hearts

You begin the game with only three hearts in Link's Awakening. With a total of 32 collectible Pieces of Heart, gathering them all will give you eight extra hearts.

On top of this, you can obtain a Heart Container for each of the eight main dungeons in this game, as well as one extra heart container from the Chamber Dungeons, for a total of 20 obtainable Hearts.

What Are Pieces of Heart?

Gives One Full Heart Every Four Pieces

	Location: Various Item Type: Miscellaneous Description: Collect four to increase your maximum number of hearts.
How to Obtain: Can be found in various locations throughout Koholint Island.

A Piece of Heart is a recurring item in The Legend of Zelda series. In this game, they are hidden in various places outside the main dungeons within Koholint Island.

Collecting four Heart Pieces will form a new heart, expanding your total health by 1 heart.

While these items are not required to complete the game, having more health will certainly make this games dungeons and bosses easier. Pieces of Heart are slightly different from Heart Containers, which give you a full extra heart and are obtained when completing a dungeon.
