Nero Family Walkthrough

FF9 Huge family
The Nero family is a huge family consisting of 10 people. The goal of this sidequest is to see all the family members at coming out of the Tantalus hide out.

There will be one family member you can see for every scene or boss fight you encounter in Memoria. You have to return to the Tantalus hideout everytime you encounter one of the triggers listed below.

Memoria Triggers

Below are the scenes and boss fights that will trigger the appearance of a family member of the Nero Family.

  • The beginning of Disc 4.
  • Battling Nova Dragon.
  • Battling Marilis.
  • Alexandria Castle Scene.
  • Zidane's comment about the weather.
  • Memory of the mother and daughter in the storm.
  • Encountering the eye in the sky.
  • Battling Tiamat.
  • Two Planets colliding
  • Drowning Quina.
  • Dialogue about memories.
  • Battling with Kraken.
  • Gaia's birth.
  • After climbing the 2 ladders towards Lich's room.
  • Battling Lich
  • About the Crystal.
  • Entering Crystal World.
  • Battling Deathguise

There are more triggers than the number of family members so the sidequest can be completed even if some of the scenes are triggered and the party failed to return to Lindblum. The sidequest becomes uncompletable if too many triggers are skipped.

The Nero Family Reward

FF9 Protect Ring
Completing the sidequest will reveal a new treasure chest inside the Tantalus hideout that contains a protect ring.
