Check In-Game Settings
Opening up the Settings menu in the game will tell you to check in Windows sound settings, as the game will detect the Windows Default Microphone of your device.
Check Steam Mic Settings
In Steam, click on the logo located at the top left of the window panel. Select Settings, then navigate to Voice to check the microphone settings used in Steam apps.
Make sure the Voice Input Device is set to either Default or Communications. Users can test their microphone input by selecting Start Microphone Test and speaking into it. Steam is picking up voice input if the bar next to the mic test button moves as the user speaks.
Change Windows Default Mic
Press the Windows key and type in Change system sounds in the search bar, then click on it to open up the sound settings.
Click on the Recording tab at the top, then select the microphone you want to use for the game and click on Set Default at the bottom.
After setting up your default microphone, go back to the game and test out your mic again by casting a spell!
Close Other Programs and Apps
Close other programs and apps that use the microphone. They may be interfering with mic detection when playing Mage Arena.
Users can check which programs and apps have microphone access in the Settings. Head to Privacy & Security and select Microphone, and press the toggle button beside the app to enable or disable microphone permission.
Swap Microphone Ports
Microphone problems may be a hardware issue related to either the mic itself or the port it is plugged into. Switch microphone ports to see if this resolves the problem.
