"a lot of maps don't even have edges, so recovery doesn't matter there." I think you've missed the main point of these tier lists. They only apply to high level tournament play, where all maps do indeed have edges and it very much matters. Little Mac is 100% bottom tier.

Little Mac is a little bit underrated. I think he should be at least D-tier. He has super armor on all of his smash attacks, his KO-punch meter can be charged with his Neutral Special (which also does a decent amount of damage), his Up Special may be bad for recovery but it's a pretty good attack, and a lot of maps don't even have edges, so recovery doesn't matter there.
Isabelle Isn' pretty good but should be, at least higher than ganon... She es faster and less punishable than him
Snake is the best, at least for me.
