Mover RE have rare steal item lunar harp. using mog's amulet + brigand's gloves can rather quickly yield enough items to max the base stat value of a materia, and you can then use just one of the other stat items to create a maxed out stat boost of choice in a mere 2 materia fusions. this is currently the earliest available easy method I know of to stat max, given that the remaster behaves like the Japanese version of the PSP release and doesn't let you keep items from failed/abandoned missions.
