    Historically, Cousin Marriage was extremely common among royalty. It often ends with Hapsburgs; but royalty and nobility didn't like the idea of spreading their wealth and power around, so they kept it in the family. And considering Alain appears to be a clone of his grandfather, I wouldn't be surprised to discover his parents were cousins or second cousins.
