Nioh 3 Drops Version 1.03.01 for PC and PlayStation 5
Adjusting Gameplay and Other Known Bugs

Nioh 3 rolled out its version 1.03.01 on February 13, introducing gameplay adjustments and bug fixes that are more extensive than the minor patch released alongside the full game's launch. The update primarily addressed progression and functionality errors and brought platform-specific updates for PC and PlayStation 5.
Two gameplay features were refined in this update. Enemy dummies in the Training Ground Battle Scroll now have substantially increased health, giving players more opportunity to practice their weapons. In addition, shrine prayers can now be performed during combat, expanding player options for recovery and strategy mid-battle.

A bulk of the patch notes covered progression and combat. General changes consisted of "partial" fixes to game crashes and the inability to use elixirs for healing during battles. It also addressed losing the valuables acquired in the Myths side quests, as well as other known bugs surrounding the mimic Mujina's behavior and overwritten playthroughs.
Aside from that, the patch delved into resolving bugs that affect the Eternal Rift—blocked progression and item acquisition that was not supposed to be there—and the bosses Takasugi Shinsaku, Kajiwara Kagetoki, and Minamoto no Yoritomo. In terms of combat, it outlined multiple corrections to attack moves, stance changes, and weapon use.
On PlayStation 5, the friend-search function will now continue working after spending an extended time in the multiplayer session's room creation. The Steam update will also automatically create backup copies of the saved data whenever the player loads a save. However, multiple player reports still mention losing their progress due to issues with the cloud save, prompting them to manually back up their progress.
Players Look For Better Performance and Optimization

Although fans expressed their thanks to developer Team NINJA for the detailed bug fixes, several others hoped an update in the near future would bring performance improvements instead. On social media, users reported that the game clashes with CPU optimization, even with turbo boost enabled. Many stated that they are unwilling to compromise their hardware just to play the game.
Despite concerns about performance issues that impede player enjoyment, Nioh 3 reached a peak of almost 90,000 concurrent Steam players only two days after its release on February 6, more than twice the numbers achieved by Nioh 2. As of writing, it has a 24-hour peak of almost 58,000, still outpacing the first two Nioh titles on Steam by their highest player counts.

In line with the overall reception—good markings of an action RPG, but marred by the said issues—our review commended Team NINJA for creating "the ultimate action RPG experience" with Nioh 3, but also acknowledged the lag and visual glitches.
