Tokyo Game Show 2023: Everything Announced
Opening Program and Keynote
The Opening Program started at 9:00 a.m. with Kousuke Hiraiwa and Shohei Taguchi as Emcees. It presented the venue amenities, publisher booths, the map of the exhibitions, game booths, sponsor booths, merchandise shop, and highlights of the events that event goers and livestream audiences can expect.
The Tokyo Game Show 2023 Keynote featured William Yagi-Bacon from Capcom, Katsuhiko Harada from Bandai Namco, Erik Peterson, and Pierre-Loup Griffais, representatives from Valve. They discussed the future of PC gaming in Japan, its statistics, and the demand for games to have PC ports.
Japan Game Awards
In this broadcast, the Games of the Year Division of the Japan Game Awards 2023 have been announced. Categories include the Grand Award, Game Designers Award, Best Sales Award, and Award for Excellence.
Gamera Games Showcase
Gamera Games announced updates for Dyson Space Program, The Awakener: Risen, The Awakener: Forgotten Oath, and new releases for 2024. Players in particular would have to wait for The Awakener: Risen to be released as it was delayed to 2025. The broadcast also showed a new prequel for The Awakener: Forgotten Oath which will be released on October 13, 2023.
Amazing Seasun Games
Amazing Seasun presented a new version of Snowbreak: Containment Zone. It delivered footage for cinematic cutscenes, combat gameplay, events, as well as boss fights. The storyline, Fogbound Dream, was announced on Amazing Seasun's website. It introduced a new location called Central Lab. There are also new Enemy bosses that challenge the players.
Xbox Digital Broadcast
The Xbox Digital Broadcast featured games that will be available for Xbox Series X|S and Game Pass subscribers. Xbox CEO Phil Spencer and Corporate VP Sarah Bond highlighted Xbox's attempts to localize their platform, including mentions of a Japanese feature in Flight Simulator and Forza Motorsport. PC Game Pass will be offered for 100 Yen for the first month of subscription. The program also featured games from Altus, Square Enix, Bethesda, Koei Tecmo, and Ryu Ga Gotoku studios.
505 Games Livestream
The 505 Games Livestream featured Ghostrunner 2, Marvel Puzzle Quest, Crime Boss, Nivalis, and Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes. The broadcast included interviews with the developers as well as information about the games' release dates, gameplay, and platforms.
Sega New Broadcast
Tokyo Game Show 2023 featured Sega's monthly broadcast: Sega New! This special TGS presentation included gameplay for Sonic Superstars, Persona 5 Tactica, and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth and introduced games like Football Manager 2024 and Endless Dungeon. The show also featured Kokona, Sega's official Vtuber, touring the SEGA-Atlus booth.
Level-5 News Livestream
Level5 Livestream featured games with unique storylines and intriguing features. This includes Deca Police, Megaton Musashi Wired, Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road, and Fantasy Life. The hosts explored the features of each game through a slideshow showcasing gameplay while also talking about which of these games they would like to play.
Koei Tecmo Fate/Samurai Remnant Livestream
The main focus of the broadcast was Fate/Samurai Remnant. They highlighted its plot, gameplay, and shared new features. The MC showed the audience a demo of Iori's gameplay, and Archer's battle gameplay. A demo is available to play at TGS2023. A Japanese webcomic about the game’s story was also put up for interested fans to read.
Capcom Online Program
The Capcom Online Program announced the latest news about Dragon Dogma 2, Ace Attorney: Trilogy, Resident Evil 4. Exoprimal, Street Fighter 6. The program also showcased gameplay clips for the featured games, DLC, additional features like new locations and maps, collaboration skins, and new platforms. Additionally Capcom Town is introduced as a community site where you can play nostalgic games.
Players can also play demos of the games in the Capcom Booth at Tokyo Games Show 2023.
Sense of Wonder Night 2023
The broadcast featured select indie games around the world. It aimed to find games that give players or audiences a sense of wonder. This year’s SOWN has 793 entries, with over 209 entries from Japan. The awards in this broadcast include the Best Technological Game Award, Best Arts Award, Best Experimental Game Award, Best Game Design Award, Best Presentation Award, and Audience Award.
Koei Tecmo Atelier Resleriana Official Livestream
On its second broadcast, Koei Tecmo focused on Atelier Resleriana’s gameplay, goods, a new theme song and a new character. It is slated to be released in 2023 for PC and mobile.
HoYoVerse Special Program
Hoyoverse showcased updates and gameplay footage for the games Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail, Tears of Themis, Honkai Impact 3rd and Zenless Zero. Hoyoverse also introduced a creator brand, HoyoCreators, which acknowledges HoYo Fan creators all over the world.
Square Enix Special Episode
Square Enix Special Episode featured a few Japanese influencers playing the demos for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Foamstars, available to play at TGS. The episode showcased multiple battles featuring Cloud and Sephiroth fighting together as allies and revealed new gameplay footage. For Foamstars, an open beta was announced that started from September 20, 2023 until October 1, 2023. New characters were also introduced, as well as their skills and playstyles.
ProjectMoon Livestream
ProjectMoon showcased a trailer of all the storylines for Limbus Company up until now. It was followed up by a gameplay demo video of the upcoming Chapter 5, available to play at Tokyo Game Show 2023.

Returning to Makuhari Messe
The gaming community is teeming excitedly as the Tokyo Game Show 2023 (TGS2023) takes center stage. This yearly event, organized by the Computer Entertainment Suppliers Association (CESA), has become a global phenomenon, gathering gamers, developers, and industry insiders worldwide. The program schedule and exhibitor list were recently released, promising a gaming feast.
TGS2023 is set to be the largest Tokyo Game Show event yet, being highly anticipated since it’ll be the first TGS since September 2019. With a whopping 770 exhibitors and 2,684 booths, guests will have more gaming goodies to discover than ever before. 371 exhibitors are from Japan, with an additional 7 participating online; 399 are from other countries, with 25 online presence.
The Hybrid Approach
One of TGS2023's most essential innovations is its hybrid format. The event will combine many online events with physical events, enabling spectators worldwide to take part regardless of distance. This is a clear acknowledgement of the value of accessibility in this digital era. These online initiatives include the Steam Special Venue, Official Streaming Programs, and Tokyo Game Show VR2023. This hybrid strategy guarantees that everyone can partake in the excitement from the comfort of their homes, even if they cannot attend in person.
A Diverse Array of Games
At the center of the Tokyo Games Show is, of course, the games themselves. The event will include a wide range of game genres to suit all preferences and tastes. TGS2023 has it all, from eagerly awaited new releases to exhilarating esports encounters, from cutting-edge AR/VR games to ground-breaking blockchain games. There is something for every type of player on every type of platform, including PCs, smartphones, and home game consoles. A number of game titles will also be available for trial play, like Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, Street Fighter 6, Sonic Superstars, Tekken 8, and Foamstars.
When is TGS 2023?
TGS2023 Official Program Streaming Timetable
The official TGS2023 program schedule was recently released, sparking even more interest in the event. To ensure that a worldwide audience can enjoy the festivities, TGS will be collaborating with several foreign platforms and online media outlets, including DouYu, Bilibili, Douyin, HUYA, and IGN. Throughout the four-day event, 25 programs will be streamed online, with 17 of them being "Official Exhibitor Programs." Most of the presentations will be accessible to non-Japanese speakers through English interpretation. For select sessions, Chinese interpretation will also be available.
A "Preview Special" will be streamed at 7:00 p.m. on September 13 (3:00 a.m. PDT) for those interested in learning more about the event.
The Xbox Digital Broadcast will be streamed on September 21, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. JST (2:00 a.m PDT).
