Outpost Infinity Siege Overall - 58/100
Outpost Infinity Siege is a game that has potential to fill a niche that has been long forgotten as FPS RTS hybrids are a dying breed. While the game is considerably unique, it does have a lot of problems. The Horrible UI, lackluster tutorial, bad voice acting, weird mission structures akin to roguelites, and a lot of performance issues plague the game and sour the overall experience.
Outpost Infinity Siege Story - 7/10
The premise of the game is that humanity has lost control over the AI that was supposedly used for their development and have driven humanity to the brink of extinction. It’s not a terrible premise as the intro segment with the Halo Reach-esque objective actually helps with the game’s narrative a lot.
Outpost Infinity Siege Gameplay - 6/10
You may have already seen games that are both FPS plus RTS and maybe with some Tower Defense mechanics mixed in, but that’s not all that the game offers. It actually has roguelite extraction elements to it, as missions are divided into smaller routes that lead into the main mission. While it’s unique, it actually may be to the game’s detriment due to lengthening a run to a good 30-45 minutes and losing your progress and collected materials when you die.
Outpost Infinity Siege Visuals - 4/10
The game’s visuals are definitely on the weaker side as it actually just worsens the game’s performance. It looks like a game from the PS2-era while having a very cluttered UI that’s similar to the Ubisoft UI parodies out in the wild. The character models are its weakest assets out there as the human characters in the base all look really bad.
Outpost Infinity Siege Audio - 5/10
While the music and sound design of the game is fine and standard, the English voice acting really brings the game down to a notch. It may be attributed to the translation of dialogue, but the delivery of the lines is either overdone or deadpan. It’s not a big deal breaker for me, but it does continually remind you of it since a lot of the characters yap a lot.
Outpost Infinity Siege Value for Money - 7/10
At $24.99, the game has much to offer. However, the pros are heavily outweighed by the cons as it may need more time to fix its issues. It certainly has the potential to have a satisfying gameplay loop, but you’ll have to endure the bad graphics, subpar gunplay, horrible voice acting, and some more to enjoy the game.
Outpost Infinity Siege Review: Weird and Unappealing Defense for Humanity
This game is definitely weird. The whole intro section of the game is a rollercoaster of ups and downs as I thought the narrative was pretty decent, but the tutorial was just boring and unclear. To summarize the tutorial, it teaches you the game’s FPS mechanics which are pretty standard, but then the game shows its first few cracks being the game’s tutorials. Typically, it wouldn’t be bad for a tutorial to be text heavy, but with it being text heavy and also unclear, then the player just wouldn’t understand how to do things.
It took me a few minutes to realize that I couldn’t jump the barricade as it had an invisible wall and that you had to shoot through a small gap in the gate to shoot the beacons. I thought this would be the only road bump when it comes to the tutorials, but it came right after when it was time to introduce the RTS mechanics.
First, it asks you to activate the turrets which was easy enough until I kept clicking on the wrong structure because one of the turrets is behind it so I had to move the camera to get it done. Next, it asks you to build a support facility, which wasn’t obvious to me since it also took me a while to get that the structure the game is asking me to build is the one on the right. Granted, this may be my "yellow paint" moment here, but if the objective says "Build a Support Facility," I’m expecting the structure to be built be called that.
After that whole thing, starts the intro which is reminiscent of Halo Reach’s final mission where your objective is to survive but inevitably die a gruesome end. Narratively, I thought the setup was pretty good, but my experience from here on was already negative due to my experience with the tutorial. Even the reveal to the character you eventually use as the last Commander of the Outposts was a let down since the human character models are pretty bad.
Add the horrible voice acting to the mix and you just have a game that’s both misleading and just unpleasant to go through. I still did play through quite a few missions afterwards, at least to make it so that there’s no more tutorials and I was playing the game for real, but it never got better. I will say that the gameplay loop is unique and weird, since it's an FPS roguelite first, then a RTS + Tower Defense + Extraction hybrid split into phases per mission.
To give you context, a mission is spread out similar to a run in Slay the Spire. Each mission consists of different "rooms" with different objectives all leading up to the final room with the main objective to complete. Each room has an exploration phase where it highlights the game’s FPS roguelite mechanics and have you explore each room to finish an objective. Finally, on the last room, you’ll have a "Last Stand" where you’ll defend your outpost. You’ll have the ability to drop and make towers, while also being able to shoot your enemies down with your guns. This is normally a timed survival mission, where you just have to survive until time runs out.
All in all, I see where the game has its good points, but my experience of playing through the game is just soured by the first hour I played. If you can look and hear past the subpar visuals and questionable voice acting, then you’ll discover a game that’s definitely still rough but has a quirky personality underneath it all.

Unique Gameplay Loop
As explained earlier, the game is both a combination of an FPS Roguelite, then an RTS Tower Defense afterwards. It has a unique charm as you don’t see this kind of gameplay everyday. It does have its issues like having no checkpoints or save points for the entire run, which means dying makes you waste a bunch of time, but I have to applaud its attempt for being different.
Good Intro to Narrative
The plot is fairly generic, but the tone and build up is set up pretty well. It’s a pretty cliché plot but seeing that they drop you into it immediately and the tutorial being an inevitable failure to defend humanity is still decently done for a game that had a pretty bad tutorial.

Misleading and Cluttered Tutorial and UI
As I’ve explained earlier in the main review section, the game’s UI and tutorial are both misleading and messy. I’m not entirely sure if the tutorial text is misleading due to a localization or translation error, but they definitely need to make it more obvious what they want out of the player if they want to get past the wrong wording and execution of certain things. The UI on the other hand, needs a bit of work as it just covers the screen a lot with unnecessary things and makes it more overwhelming than it should be.
Shooting Feels Off
As listed, the game is part FPS. However, the gunplay just isn’t that great. There’s no impact or weight to your shots and it feels like you’re shooting a BB gun on a piece of hardened plastic. If you were after a game with satisfying shooting mechanics, this isn’t the game with that kind of thing.
Horrible Voice Acting
The voice acting is just straight up all over the place. I can’t attest to the other languages as maybe they’re bearable or ok, but the English voices are just terrible. Some NPCs just have a straight monotone delivery of their lines, while others just aren’t sure where they should be putting emphasis on their pronunciation.
Unappealing Visuals
The game just looks bad as well. The character models look like they came out of the PS2 era which really worsens the game’s aesthetic. Granted, I was running the game on "Normal" settings which are the lowest possible parameters, but putting it higher would just make the game run slower which leads us to-
Lots of Performance Issues
In my playthrough, the game was mostly smooth as I was running it on the lowest settings. But, it has been reported that even high-end gaming rigs were struggling to play the game on max settings and it was causing constant crashes and problems for other people. I’m pretty sure they can fix that in due time, but it’s still a hard sell if it was still hard to run for top-of-the-line PCs.
Is Outpost Infinity Siege Worth It?
No. Not in this State.
This game might’ve needed a little more time to iron out the issues plaguing the game like the tutorial, the UI, and most especially, the performance related problems. The game does have some semblance of promise as the gameplay loop is still unique and there’s not a lot of FPS RTS games out there these days. However, if you were to consider getting the game, then be warned that you’re going to have to endure subpar graphics, voice acting, and performance issues.
