Virtua Fighter Overview
Virtua Fighter is a 3D fighting game series developed by Sega. The recently announced project, presumably named Virtua Fighter 6, will be the series’ sixth installment since its inception in 1993. Additionally, it will be the first Virtua Fighter that will be released in current gen consoles since its predecessor’s (Virtua Fighter 6) initial release in 2006. Over the years, Virtua Fighter 5 has received a number of ports and version changes, including the upcoming enhanced remaster scheduled in 2025, but was only confirmed to have a sequel at TGA 2024.
The series was known for its realistic approach to fighting, groundbreaking 3D graphics at the time, and technical mechanics that players grew up on and love ever since. In addition to this, it has also had a non-flashy approach to its presentation, where it highlights the fights as they are as compared to its other fighting game contemporaries.
Virtua Fighter Gameplay
Virtua Fighter is a 3D fighting game that functions primarily on three-buttons (punch, kick, guard) and can be combined with directional inputs and other buttons to perform different moves, counters, and throws. Additionally, the game is known for its difficulty, as it rewards players to understand movement, spacing, countering, and timing more effectively than other fighting games.
