Mobile Legends Gameplay
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is a 5v5 multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) designed for mobile devices. As such, unlike many of the MOBAs before it on PC, many of its controls use a virtual joystick and skill buttons on the touch screen. Players control Heroes, each with their own abilities and roles: Tank, Marksman, Assassin, Fighter, Mage, and Support. These roles define the heroes’ functions in a team.
The core gameplay revolves around destroying the enemy base while protecting your own, achieved by advancing through three lanes (gold, exp, and mid) and a jungle area that offers resources like gold, experience, and buffs. Teams must coordinate hero abilities and item builds to outplay opponents and secure objectives, such as turrets, jungle monsters, and the enemy base.
The game features two primary modes: Ranked and Classic. In Ranked Mode, players compete to climb seven tiers of skill rankings, from Warrior to Mythic, with matchmaking that pairs players of similar ranks. Progression depends on consistent victories.
Classic Mode, by contrast, offers a more casual experience that does not affect rank progression. This allows players of varying skills and ranks to experiment with and practice different heroes and strategies. Regardless of the mode, the central objective remains the same: defeat minion waves, secure kills and objectives, and dismantle the enemy base.
MLBB also offers Arcade modes for varied gameplay. Modes like Brawl simplify the map to a single lane with reduced objectives, while Magic Chess transforms the game into an auto battler similar to Riot's Teamfight Tactics. Other rotating modes, such as Mayhem and Deathbattle, modify hero abilities or introduce new gimmicks.
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Story
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang does not adhere to a traditional linear storyline. Instead, its narrative is built through the lore of individual Heroes. Each Hero has a backstory that provides context for their motivations and alliances, and these narratives often overlap. Players can piece their stories together by exploring character biographies, in-game events, and animated shorts.
One such story involves the rivalry between Hayabusa and Hanzo. Hayabusa is tasked with eliminating Hanzo, a former ally turned rogue after stealing the forbidden power of the Akakage clan. This rivalry is further complicated by the presence of Kagura, a childhood friend of Hayabusa who also has ties to Hanzo.
However, there are often inconsistencies in these stories. For instance, Layla's backstory has undergone several changes. In 2016, her father's death was attributed to an accident during the forging of the Malefic Gun, Layla's in-game weapon. However, in 2017, it was established that Layla accidentally killed her father with the Malefic Gun while defending their home from creatures from the Abyss.
