Everything We Know About Kingdom Hearts
Kingdom Hearts Story Plot
Kingdom Hearts is a video game franchise created by Tetsuya Nomura that primarily follows Sora, a spiky-haired boy who becomes a Keyblade wielder. Alongside Donald and Goofy, Sora travels to various Disney worlds to stop the Heartless invasion orchestrated by Xehanort. Tasked with sealing each world's keyhole, Sora works to restore peace across the realms. As the story unfolds, Sora discovers deeper layers of darkness and faces new enemies such as Organization XIII and the Nobodies. Fortunately, Sora is not alone; he is joined by fellow Keyblade wielders including Kairi, Riku, King Mickey, Roxas, Ventus, Aqua, and Terra. Together, they maintain their connection through the bonds of their hearts.
Kingdom Hearts Gameplay
In the Kingdom Hearts series, you play as Sora or another Keyblade wielder in a third-person action RPG adventure. You explore various worlds, primarily featuring Disney characters like Mulan and Winnie the Pooh, but you also encounter Square Enix characters like Cloud.
The gameplay is fast-paced, involving battles against enemies like the Heartless. Combat typically involves using the Keyblade to attack, magic, and summons, with the RPG elements including equipping new skills, items, and Keyblades to grow stronger.
The battle system varies across the series. Kingdom Hearts I, II, and III feature traditional RPG mechanics with skill and combo unlocks that help Sora deal massive damage. In contrast, Birth By Sleep, Dream Drop Distance, and Re:Coded use the Deck System, where powerful abilities are organized into a deck and have cooldown times after use.
Chain of Memories relies on a card-based system where players organize cards into a deck, but unlike command decks, the player cannot attack once the cards are depleted.
Each game introduces unique combat mechanics, such as Drive Forms in Kingdom Hearts II, which change Sora's outfit and abilities. The series also features a variety of mini-games, including the Gummi Ship builder and space battles, as well as rhythm games.
Additionally, each world you encounter contains platforming segments and puzzles.
