Presented from a top-down perspective, the game emphasizes exploration, dialogue, and encounters with a variety of characters, including international financiers, psychic doppelgängers, and other factions.

The title introduces several new gameplay systems. Dramatic Encounters present moments where time pauses, requiring players to make a sequence of dice-based decisions to resolve high-stakes situations. The Failing Forward mechanic ensures that unsuccessful rolls or poor choices still lead to meaningful outcomes. This system is expanded with the new Exert option, which allows the use of a third die, keeping the best two results while discarding the lowest at a minor cost.

Another feature, Conditioning, functions as a faster alternative to Disco Elysium’s Thought Cabinet. Through Conditioning, players can reinforce traits that influence skills and perspectives, balancing positive and negative effects to shape Hershel’s progression.

What is PlayStation State of Play?

Image

PlayStation State of Play is a regular program by Sony that aims to deliver updates on upcoming and recently released games, as well as hardware and other PlayStation-related news. It is their showcase event, similar to Nintendo Direct and Xbox Developer Direct, that is pre-recorded and streamed online, featuring game trailers, developer insights, and sometimes surprise announcements.

There is no strict schedule for PlayStation State of Play showcases. It can happen multiple times a year, depending on whether Sony has anything major to share with the gaming community, whether it’s about their own IPs, indies, or other big updates.
