The Untitled John Wick Game takes players back to an earlier chapter in the assassin’s life. Here’s what Saber Interactive’s chief creative officer shared about the game’s timeline and early details about the project.
John Wick Game Set Before the First Film
Before John Wick Became the “Baba Yaga”

The Untitled John Wick Game will take place before the first film in the franchise, according to Saber Interactive Chief Creative Officer Tim Willits, who shared additional details about the project in an interview published on March 5.
Speaking with IGN, Willits confirmed the game is set before the events of the original John Wick film, pointing to the reveal trailer where the character appears younger while being measured for his suit. The moment offers a glimpse of Wick earlier in his career, before he became known as the "Baba Yaga."
As a result, combat is intended to feel slightly "clumsier" than the controlled gun-fu (precise gunfire with hand-to-hand combat in fluid close-range encounters) combat style seen in the films, as this version of the character has not yet mastered those techniques.

At the time of writing, little is known about how the untitled game will play. All players know is that it's an over-the-shoulder third-person action game. Willits, though, pointed out that the John Wick films already resemble video games in how their violent gunfights and hand-to-hand combat unfold.
"The great thing about the Wick series is when you watch the movies, they’re kind of like video games," he said. "You have a group of enemies, then you have some tough guys, and you have a boss fight, and then you have a group of enemies, tough guys, and a boss fight. So it’s really exciting to bring that action to a video game. It’s going to be like watching a movie." However, he did not formally outline how the game would be structured.
"A Game That Captures The Unparalleled Action"

The Untitled John Wick Game was revealed during the February 12 PlayStation State of Play, where Lionsgate and Saber Interactive confirmed the project as a single-player third-person action game. The reveal trailer featured John Wick early in his career while showcasing glimpses of the franchise’s signature gun-fu combat, including close-quarters grapples, takedowns, and environmental interactions.
According to Lionsgate President of Global Products & Experiences Jenefer Brown, the goal is to translate the films’ action and world-building into an interactive experience. "We are collaborating closely with Saber’s dedicated team to develop a game that captures the unparalleled action, brand-defining fight choreography, immersive world-building, and authenticity of the films," Brown said.

The game is being developed in collaboration with Lionsgate, Saber Interactive, and franchise director Chad Stahelski. The John Wick franchise’s lead actor, Keanu Reeves, is also involved in production and is expected to reprise the character’s likeness and voice for the game.
The untitled John Wick Game is currently in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. To stay up-to-date on the game, check our article below.
