Nintendo and Piggyback Bringing Metroid Series Into Perspective
Covering Metroid Prime 1-3
Nintendo and Piggyback, a guidebook publishing company, are collaborating to create a Metroid Prime art book, launching this Summer 2025. Retro Studios, Metroid Prime series’ developers, are also included in this wonderful partnership, providing extensive details about the game series’ 20 years of development.
The Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective art book contains “drawings, sketches, and assorted illustrations from the Metroid Prime Series,” according to Piggyback’s website. However, it does not only serve as an eye candy, but also provides context and perspective in the development of Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, and Metroid Prime Remastered.
Aside from high-quality art and developers’ sketches, the art book also comes with:
⚫︎ A foreword from Kensuke Tanabe, Metroid Prime’s producer
⚫︎ Penned Retro Studios’ introduction of each game
⚫︎ Producer’s anecdotes, commentaries, and insights on the artwork
⚫︎ A stitch-bound premium sheet-fed art paper with a cloth hardcover, featuring Samus etched in a metallic foil
⚫︎ Single (Hardcover) Edition
With 212 pages to peruse, readers will gain exclusive insight into how these four games were made and what inspiration the developers took them from. The price of this art book is £39.99 / €44.99 / A$74.95. If you are interested in this wonderful piece of art, you may check Piggyback’s website from time to time as it is not available yet to purchase.
Nintendo’s Past Collaboration with Piggyback
This is not the first time Piggyback teamed up with Nintendo. In fact, the company created official guides for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, helping players navigate the expansive land of Hyrule, gather every collectible in these games, and complete all quests.
These official guides cover the complete information a player might need when playing these games, from Korok seed locations to weapon and armor details. The BOTW official guide even included everything about its DLCs, such as The Master Trials and The Champions’ Ballad.
Though not an official guide, Piggyback’s experience in creating visually gorgeous artwork for the latest Zelda BOTW and TOTK will undoubtedly shine in the upcoming Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective art book.
