Persona 30th Anniversary Begins
New Anniversary Website and Upcoming Update

Persona series developer Atlus opened the franchise’s 30th anniversary with a new website and a hint at an upcoming update for the celebration. The anniversary page went live on December 31, 2025, featuring a new illustration from character designer Shigenori Soejima that showcases all of the series’ protagonists.
Aside from the artwork, Atlus also noted on the website that an announcement would be made on January 8, 2026. Atlus fell short of giving more hints, but SEGA’s Persona page indicated that fans should "stay tuned for more anniversary announcements."
Atlus welcomed 2026 with a short anniversary video, which highlights all entries in the series, each represented by their respective protagonist. Starting with the most recent mainline entry, Persona 5 in 2018, all the way to Revelations: Persona from 1996.
The teaser’s description indicated that Atlus is "preparing various projects such as events and merchandise." While Atlus has kept initial details under wraps, players need not wait any longer as new updates for the 30th anniversary will be shared in less than a week.
Expectations for 30th Anniversary

Fans online have mixed reactions to the upcoming celebration. Based on several Reddit threads on the topic, the community is keeping its expectations low as to what will be announced on January 8.
This stems from Persona’s previous major celebration for its 25th anniversary, where Atlus only announced several ports for their games and some new merchandise. Although games such as Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 5 Royal were the main highlights, fans back then expected the reveal of Persona 6 at the end of the year.
The lack of information about Persona’s eventual sequel frustrated a lot of fans, especially considering Atlus hyped up the last leg of announcements for the 25th year, only for the anniversary to cap off with the Persona Super Live P-Sound Wish 2022 concert in Japan. With the upcoming 30th anniversary, many have jokingly stated that Atlus will once again unveil a plethora of ports, remakes, or merchandise, leaving Persona 6 behind.
P-Studio Aspirations for 2026

Although information about the 30th anniversary year is still scarce, developers from P-Studio have stated their expectations for the Persona series in 2026. In 4Gamer’s year-end annual game industry commentary collection, members of the Persona team looked back on their achievements in 2025 and shared what they aspire to happen this year.
The development team expressed their gratitude to fans for the successful launches of both Persona 3 Reload on the Nintendo Switch 2 and Raidou Remastered. Moreover, they are excited about sharing Persona 4 Revival updates and thanked fans for their continued loyalty.

However, the most notable comments are those regarding the studio’s future projects and plans for Persona’s 30th Anniversary. According to Persona 3 Reload Switch 2 Director Shigeo Komori, the team is working on a new project and is currently "in the middle of imagining what kind of game we want to create."
Meanwhile, P-Studio Creative Producer Kazuhisa Wada stated that 2026 is the perfect time for them to share news regarding future developments for Persona. Ultimately, everyone expects big things for this year, promising a "packed schedule" filled with announcements about their developments.
