Snowbreak: Containment Zone Goes on Indefinite Hiatus
Sudden Maintenance After Collab Controversy

Snowbreak: Containment Zone has been taken offline "temporarily" starting on March 2 at 7:59 AM PST / 10:59 AM EST. Its official X (formerly Twitter) page posted that "the server reopening time will be announced separately," although any update has yet to be confirmed as of writing.
Beyond the technical maintenance, developer Amazing Seasun Games did not disclose other reasons for the sudden decision or give players any prior notice. However, a series of events over the past few days, involving backlash and a cancelled collaboration, have stirred up speculation among its player base as possible causes.
It is worth noting that Snowbreak previously collaborated with China Post, the official postal service of China, on merchandise featuring censored stamps and letters of their different characters. Unfortunately, the partnership was ill-received by the public, with many criticizing that it is inappropriate for a state-owned entity in China to support a game that has erotic content.

Hostility toward the game amplified online, to the point where it became the leading topic of conversation on Tieba, China's largest internet forum equivalent to Reddit. Ultimately, China Post had to end the collaboration amid external pressure. The controversy surrounding the cancellation—as well as the public scrutiny swarming Snowbreak itself—was significant enough that Chinese news outlets reported on the incident.
The chain of events did not stop there. All adult-oriented videos on Snowbreak's Bilibili channel, from July 2023 to the latest upload, have been taken down. On March 2, Snowbreak's official account announced an indefinite hiatus.
Fans Wonder if Other Gacha Games are Next

The Snowbreak community has mostly adopted a less-than-conciliatory stance regarding the issue's recent developments. Many questioned why Snowbreak in particular was the sole target of negative attention, considering that games of a similar nature, such as Azur Lane, also collaborated with China Post but did not receive the same treatment. They also appealed to the internet and the broader gaming community so that players of any gender could enjoy their games without interference.
Given the recent controversy, fans are left wondering whether other Chinese gacha games will be targeted next due to government regulations and public expectations. Speculations have already raised concerns that titles such as Arknights, Blue Archive, Goddess of Victory: Nikke, and Azur Promilia may need to be cautious of potential reporting campaigns in the future.

For now, the Snowbreak community awaits official updates regarding the estimated completion of maintenance so they can resume playing. Compensation is also prepared for them upon their return, redeemable within one month of the servers’ reopening. This includes a free limited SSR Character and a Weapon of their own choice from the 1.0 to 2.8 versions, as well as a +1 daily pull for the Limited-Time Manifestation Echo Covenant.
