Possibility For A Western Release Growing More and More
During Persona 5: The Phantom X’s (P5X) first anniversary livestream on March 29, there was a mention of the game having an English localization, pointing towards its possible Western release. P5X is a Persona 5 gacha spin-off being developed by Perfect World Games and was released on PC and mobile in April 2024 in select Asian regions such as China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, and South Korea.
The developers are now preparing for the game’s Japanese release, which they previously mentioned is expected to come in early 2025. The game’s official release date will be revealed during an upcoming mid-May broadcast. According to the developers, after working on P5X’s Japanese translations, they would be translating them to English, which they admitted would take some time to complete.
Although Sega and Atlus said in July 2024 that they are considering P5X to have an international and console release in the future, there have been no updates since then. Speculations for its global release grew stronger in October 2024 as a playtest page appeared in SteamDB, although many have pointed out that this may be for P5X’s JP release.
Despite this, the recent P5X livestream gave fans something to look forward to, especially since the game’s Japanese version would be released soon, and hopefully, its global version to follow suit.
Persona 5: The Phantom X is 86.7 Percent Complete
As part of the livestream, the developers gave an update regarding P5X’s development status. They revealed that the game is now 86.7% complete, with new updates to the game such as improved controller and touchpad support, UI improvements, story adjustments, and more. Additionally, they have announced that P5X would be coming to Steam in the regions where it is currently available.
Atlus shared with Automaton on March 31 that the development of P5X is different from how they developed previous Persona games, since it's an online game, and they plan on making the game playable for a long time. They have also emphasized the importance of player feedback in improving the game, considering every comment since its closed beta test in 2024.
Despite the lack of information on its global release, P5X is shaping up to be a high-quality online game with the updates and improvements mentioned.
