Bandai Namco announced on March 4 that it will reveal a new role-playing game through a YouTube premiere on March 5, at 3 pm PST / 6 pm EST / 11 pm GMT, following a teaser shared on social media. The brief clip shows a lush landscape with stone structures and a tall tower in the distance, along with a character carrying a sword and shield, accompanied by the tagline "A serenity soon to be disturbed."
Aside from the brief teaser and its accompanying tagline, Bandai Namco has not shared further details about the game. Information about its setting, gameplay, or whether it is connected to an existing franchise or a completely new project has yet to be confirmed.
Fans Wonder Which Bandai Namco Series the Teaser Could Hint At
With little confirmed so far, fans have already begun speculating about which Bandai Namco franchise the new RPG could be tied to. Some initially wondered whether the teaser could be connected to the hit game Elden Ring, which Bandai Namco published in partnership with FromSoftware.
However, the teaser does not appear to point to a FromSoftware project. While the studio maintains a close relationship with Bandai Namco, having published Elden Ring and last year’s Elden Ring Nightreign, FromSoftware now fully owns the Elden Ring trademark and is currently working on other titles, making a connection unlikely.
Another commonly mentioned possibility is the Tales of series, one of Bandai Namco’s longest-running RPG franchises. The last new mainline entry was Tales of Arise, which was released in 2021 and featured upgraded visuals and major updates to the series’ combat system.
The franchise has also received recent rereleases. Tales of Graces f Remastered, originally released in 2009, launched in January 2025 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The updated version included improved graphics, several quality-of-life enhancements, and more than 80 pieces of previously released DLC.
Bandai Namco is also known for several other RPG franchises, including Sword Art Online, Super Robot Wars, and Scarlet Nexus. Some fans have pointed to the Sword Art Online series as a possible candidate, noting similarities between the teaser’s visuals and elements seen in past games. The most recent entry, Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream, was released in October 2024, leading some to speculate that another project in the franchise could already be in development.
For now, fans will have to wait until the premiere airs to learn more about Bandai Namco’s new RPG.
