Phasmophobia Console Release Announced

Phasmophobia, the ever-popular co-op ghost-hunting game from the pandemic era, has been confirmed to receive a console port later this year!

Phasmophobia Is Coming To Consoles

Dates, Version Details, and Cross-Play

Kinetic Games has recently announced that their genre-defining horror game, Phasmophobia, will receive console releases for the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. A specific release date has yet to be announced. However, early access for the game is scheduled to start in August.

The console version will release with the Progression 2.0 update, with future updates to be available at the same time as the PC versions. This means that everybody can play together with relatively the same amount of progress due to the patch's level reset. PC veterans can display the results of their past ghost-hunting experiences using a badge available in-game, which will also show for those playing on the console. The game will also support cross-play, so everybody gets equal love (and scares) regardless of what device they hold.

Aside from that, Phasmophobia for the consoles still looks like the old, endearing, creepy-as-all-hell game that we've all grown to love and fear since it was released during the pandemic. With a console release on the horizon and the massive overhauls, Progression 2.0 promises that players, new and grizzled, can rest assured knowing that they'll be greeting the latter half of the year with their hearts caught in their throats.

Phasmophobia Overview

Image

Developed by Kinetic Games, Phasmophobia is a cooperative horror game where players identify ghosts that haunt commissioned locations. Players and their intrepid team members must use modern and traditional tools and their voices to lure the spirit into manifesting themselves while ensuring they survive until the end.

The game awards players with money and experience depending on their accomplishments. Equipment and materials can be purchased to help the players identify ghosts and fulfill side objectives to earn more from their trip. Higher quality tools are appropriately more expensive, which allows players to perform their tasks more efficiently. But simultaneously, the ghosts become more aggressive as the difficulty is raised, balancing the more powerful equipment with a more daunting challenge.
