Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Overview
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater (also known as MGS Delta or MGS3 Remake) is the modern remake of the 2004 stealth-action game Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater previously developed by Konami under the direction of Hideo Kojima. The game released for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on August 28, 2025. This is the series’s first release after the highly-criticized release of Metal Gear Survive, which prompted a halt for the franchise as Konami shifted its focus to mobile and arcade games.
This game remakes the original title with upgraded gameplay and graphics with minimal alteration, seeking to faithfully recreate the game with a modern flair. The game will star Naked Snake, or Big Boss, as he undergoes a mission amidst the 1960s’ Cold War, serving as a prequel for the entire series.
Naked Snake, as a young CIA agent, under orders of his mentor The Boss, is sent to the USSR to rescue a scientist. The mission goes wrong as The Boss appears and announces her betrayal and defection to the USSR, capturing the scientist for herself and her benefactor from the Russian side. Naked Snake, barely alive from his wounds, survives the aftermath and must now embark on a mission to prove the USA's innocence and prevent the start of nuclear warfare derived from the Cold War.
Players will take control of Snake as he accomplishes his missions through brute force, or stealth. Players may wield various guns and armaments and make use of the surroundings as Snake in order to successfully prevent two Superpowers from devolving into a nuclear war.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Gameplay
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a stealth-action game, where players are given missions and are placed within a semi-open area to carry out their objectives. They can equip Snake with various equipment before the mission, but also find all sorts of weapons on the field. Pistols, rifles, grenades, trip-wires, and the like can all be utilized to take out enemies and accomplish missions stealthily. A staple of the series is the cardboard box, which can be used to sneak past guards and take them by surprise to clear out the scene. There is also close-quarters-combat, which allows players to engage with enemies to fight, or instantly choke them out when sneaking from behind.
Snake also has a camouflage meter which is affected by the available facepaints and outfits to blend with the various environments. The game also has a unique life system, wherein damage is split across different body parts, affecting different actions such as running, fighting, or aiming.

Players will be retreading the jungle in his iconic gear, as the game is revealed to be the remake of the classic title from the Metal Gear Solid franchise.

⚫︎ Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is the first Metal Gear Solid game since Metal Gear Survive in 2018, while it’s the first major game in the series since the last mainline title, Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, back in 2015.
⚫︎ This is the first mainline game from the franchise without the leadership of its creator, Hideo Kojima. However, being a remake of the original, it will still have Kojima’s original vision.
