MiSide: Zero Overview
MiSide: Zero (MSZ) is a fan-made prequel to the original MiSide. Even though the latter was released in December 2024 by AIHASTO as a psychological horror title, MSZ is not an official installment but rather a community project developed by Voidway (a team headed by Kojo and Nick) and meant to expand on lore that precedes the events of the original. An Alpha Demo is planned for release this October 2025.
It is intended to explore what took place approximately a year before the events of the main game. Players follow a character nicknamed Zero (as per the developers, "the blonde guy… you meet in Beyond The World") as he receives a message from a deceased friend urging him to try the MiSide game. As Zero grows emotionally attached to Mita, the boundary between virtual and real becomes blurred, and he eventually finds himself trapped within the game world.
MiSide: Zero is currently in an alpha stage, so many systems remain under development. From what has been shown in early footage and commentary, it promises to build on the psychological and narrative-driven structures of MiSide while introducing more defined character arcs. According to developer commentary, the game will feature mechanics that make player choices carry greater significance, with deeper emotional and horror elements reworked.

MiSide: Zero Gameplay
As a fan-made game, MiSide: Zero largely inherits and expands on the gameplay of the MiSide. In its alpha builds, players can interact with physical objects in a 3D space (doors, lighting, shaders) and use a new interaction system to manipulate the environment around them. The developers have described work on "interaction system, player, lighting, and shaders" as systems under construction. The project is built "from scratch" rather than as a simple mod, so many features systems are being coded anew.
In early glimpses, MSZ appears to adopt an exploratory adventure gameplay with visual novel elements. Player choices, character interactions, and environmental exploration are among the game’s core components. Players go through scenes or rooms to select interactive objects or trigger dialogue.
The game retains MiSide's branching decision points that affect subsequent events, and like the base game, MSZ will integrate diversions through a variety of mini-games.
