Him, the Smile & Bloom is an otome visual novel developed by MintLip and published by EDIA in Japan, with PQube handling the Western release. It first launched in Japan on August 8, 2024 for the Nintendo Switch, and became available worldwide for both Nintendo Switch and PC on February 27, 2025.
In a local flower shop, Fill Flower, the player explores the romantic lives of four different couples connected to this establishment. Each couple’s story is associated with a specific flower, which symbolizes various themes of love and relationships. These stories delve into the dynamics of these relationships, from the initial stages of attraction to the complexities of maintaining bonds in contemporary society.
Him, the Smile & Bloom departs from the traditional otome game structure that typically feature a single protagonist with multiple suitors. Him, the Smile & Bloom Gameplay
Him, the Smile & Bloom is an otome visual novel. As such, players are given the opportunity to explore the romantic journeys of the characters therein. Unlike traditional otome games that center around a single protagonist with multiple suitors, however, the game focuses on the dynamics between four pairs: Wataru and Serina, Ginnosuke and Ami, Hokuto and Fuuka*, and **Tenya and Miku*. Each couple’s story is symbolized by a specific flower that reflects the nature of their relationship, and players can select any couple’s narrative from the outset, as there is no common route linking them.
As a visual novel, narrative choices influence the progression and outcome of each couple’s relationship. Each pair has three possible endings, known as Glow, Bloom, and Wilt, which do not conform to traditional "good or bad" labels. Instead, these endings offer varied perspectives on the relationships. Achieving the Glow ending, however, unlocks additional side stories that further enrich the characters’ backgrounds.
