Everything We Know About Sunderfolk
Sunderfolk Story Plot
While much of Sunderfolk’s full narrative remains shrouded in mystery, the game's press coverage has unveiled a compelling high-fantasy setting. In a world where anthropomorphic animals wield both magic and steel, the story centers on the town of Arden and its six heroes.
These brave protectors are sworn to defend the powerful Brightstone, located at the heart of their town, from the dark forces of the Shadowstone—a growing menace from the surrounding Sunderlands. With this intriguing setup, Sunderfolk promises a rich blend of adventure, magic, and heroic conflict.
Sunderfolk Gameplay
Sunderfolk brings a fresh twist to the turn-based tactical RPG genre by combining classic strategy elements with the novelty of using your phone as a controller. While details on specific abilities, status effects, and damage types remain scarce, the game’s standout features include its core group of six heroes, a hex-based combat grid, and asynchronous combat mechanics. Promotional materials have also highlighted split-screen and screen-share co-op, making it a versatile and engaging multiplayer experience.
Players each control one of the six unique heroes via their phones, battling hordes of enemies across the hexagonal grid. What sets Sunderfolk apart is its dynamic turn system. Unlike traditional games with a set turn order, like Baldur’s Gate 3, players can act whenever they choose, creating a fast-paced, tactical flow that forces constant adjustment as the battlefield shifts.
With each hero offering a distinct playstyle and set of strengths and weaknesses, no two parties or encounters are the same, ensuring that every battle is fresh and strategic.
