Final Fantasy VII Remake Gameplay
Final Fantasy VII Remake reimagines the Active Time Battle (ATB) mechanics from the original game. Players control a party of characters, each with their own specializations, and can switch between them during combat to adapt to different situations. While the AI manages non-controlled characters defensively, the player can issue specific commands.
During the heat of battle, players can make use of the "Tactical Mode," which significantly slows time. Here, players can carefully select actions like casting spells, using items, or executing abilities.
The game also includes a stagger mechanic, wherein sustained attacks fill an enemy’s stagger gauge, eventually rendering them vulnerable to increased damage. Defensively, players can block or dodge, though not all moves can be avoided or mitigated.
Materia is as important in Final Fantasy VII Remake as it is in the original, as this enables characters to acquire new abilities, spells, and passive effects. Materia can be found, purchased, or obtained via side activities. Summons return as Materia this time around, and these act as temporary allies during combat.
Moreover, weapons are similarly upgradeable. These offer stat enhancements and/or additional Materia slots, and proficiency-based skills that can be permanently unlocked.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Story
Final Fantasy VII Remake reimagines the opening portion of the original Final Fantasy VII, primarily focusing on the events in the city of Midgar. The game follows Cloud Strife, a former soldier turned mercenary, who is recruited by an eco-terrorist group called Avalanche fighting against Shinra’s exploitation of the planet’s life force, known as Mako energy. As the group’s operations escalate, however, they draw the attention of Shinra’s forces and Sephiroth, a former war hero turned antagonist whose motives are deeply intertwined with Cloud’s past and the fate of the planet.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade introduces an additional storyline, EPISODE INTERmission, featuring Yuffie Kisaragi, a ninja from the nation of Wutai. In this side story, Yuffie infiltrates Midgar on a mission to steal a powerful Materia from the Shinra Corporation, working alongside members of Avalanche’s sub-division.
This side story runs parallel to the main story, which also sets up Yuffie’s eventual integration into the main party in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
