Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door is a role-playing game with non-traditional elements like platforming in terms of its exploration and traversal around its world. The combat system follows a traditional turn-based style similar to older role-playing games at the time. The game plays with the 2D character in a 3D world concept, and having interactive elements that are designed to look like they’re made of paper.
