This game was just announced at the Nintendo Direct on June 21, 2023. From what we know so far about the game, Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince will give us the same monster-taming gameplay we’ve come to expect from the Dragon Quest Monsters spin-off series, with an emphasis on using "Synthesis" to create more powerful monsters instead of breeding them like in past games.
But the biggest selling point of all is how the game will chronicle the rise of Psaro, the villain of Dragon Quest IV, and how he became the Master of Monsterkind. So for fans of both Dragon Quest Monsters and the bishounen villain Psaro, Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince is shaping up to be a game you won’t want to miss.

Due to a curse, Psaro is unable to cause harm to anything with monster blood. To build an army for battle, he must train to be a Monster Wrangler. Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince chronicles Psaro's rise to power, as well as his first meeting with the ruby-teared elf, Rose.
Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince Gameplay
Synthesis, the power to combine two monsters to produce a stronger offspring, is the secret of Psaro's success. Instead of breeding monsters like in previous games, Psaro must combine monsters to get his hands on stronger creatures. With each new creation, he gets a little bit closer to realizing his dream of becoming the Master of Monsterkind with each new creation.
The hunt for stronger monsters will take Psaro all around the land of Nadiria, the dark underground world that is littered with various environments ranging from ancient ruins and rivers of bubbling lava, to soaring towers of cake. The seasons will also change from windy gales to fierce blizzards during Psaro's travels, though it is not yet clear what effects these will have on gameplay.
