Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Trailer 2
New Gameplay Features
New Air and Land Vehicles
The Nintendo Direct on Feb 9th, 2023 surprised us all when they showed link riding in what looked to be some type of car. And then that surprise doubled when a few moments later we saw Link casually riding a flying machine.
This is a massive addition, and it is very much appreciated. In Breath of the Wild, players used their ingenuity to create makeshift vehicles, so being able to properly have real vehicles for faster transportation across Hyrule and the skies above is an excellent change. That being said, it will be hard to go back to using a paraglider after unlocking some of these insane vehicles.
Possible New Traps for Dungeon Entrances
In the latest Nintendo Direct, new footage of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was shown. We got a glimpse of Link seemingly entering a Shrine, but is cought off guard when what look like Guardian arms pop up to ambush him. This might just be a one-time surprise attack, or it could meant that there will be combat challenges before you can enter certain shrines.
Whether this is the case or not will have to wait to be proven on release.
Telekinesis - Redirecting Arrows in Combat
We see a short clip of Link firing a bow and arrow, missing the target completely. But then he didn't. The arrow flashes green and redirects in the middle of it's trajectory to hit the target.
We are still determining if this telekinetic effect is caused by Link's arm or if the bow was imbued with this ability, similar to how weapons could have elemental attributes in Breath of the Wild. Either way, gameplay feature looks insanely fun to pull of trick shots with.
New Enemies & Bosses
What can only be described as a massive box golem was shown in the Nintendo Direct on Feb. 9th, 2023. This definitely feels like it might be a boss commonly found in Tears of the Kingdom similar to the Stone Talus or Hinox bosses in Breath of the Wild.
Link may have to scale this boss to reach it's weakpoints. It's not hard to imagine dismantling the boss and having to attack its core. Either way, we eagerly look forward to fighting this and many other new bosses with all of Link's new abilities on May 12th, 2023.
