Yoshimoto Comedians Have Fun on Stage (TGS 2024)

Image

Watch as Itakura Toshiyuki, Yui P, and Akiko Amano take the stage and play through the Japan Game Awards that were determined on the first day of the Tokyo Games Show 2024!

Comedians Take The Tokyo Game Show Stage

Showing Off Their Gaming Prowess

MC Akiko Amano introduced the two players, Impulse’s Toshiyuki Itakura and Okazu Club’s Yui P, two Japanese comedians from the well-known Yoshimoto Group. They came to Tokyo Game Show today to try out two of the award-winning games from the first day of the event. After sharing a little bit about their experiences with the event so far (Yui P even visited the Final Fantasy 14 booth and took some pictures!), they went straight into trying out the featured games.

Aiming For Watermelons With The Suika Game

The first game to be featured is the casual fruit-combining game that took the world by storm, Suika Game. Itakura started off the program with his first run of the Suika Game, showing confidence and determination in attaining the prized Suika (watermelon). He reached a score of 913 within a set period of time. Yui P followed suit, starting off calmly and with more of a strategy. However, the fruits started piling up and she ended her run with a score of 635, ensuring a little victory for Itakura.

Anomaly Sighting In Exit 8

Secondly, they played thrilling liminal space game Exit 8. Itakura took the reins as the player character, enthusiastically playing with Amano and Yui P helping out. Exit 8 is played in a way where its players are trapped in an endless underground passageway, and the only way to escape is to get to Exit 8…but take note, even the smallest unseen anomaly will take you right back to the start—which is what happened to the trio. After a few resets to the start of the game, they successfully passed a section with an anomaly, only to be forced to reset once again once the anomaly came directly at them. The next run looked promising, reaching all the way to Exit 3, but due to a hard-to-see anomaly, they were reset once again. Picking up their bearings and working as a team, they breezed through several rooms with ease.

However, despite all their efforts as a trio, and even achieving all the way to Exit 7, they ultimately failed to reach Exit 8 in time. Nevertheless, they ended the stream and their game showcase with an accomplished smile, and urged the attendees to have fun at Tokyo Game Show.
