Everything We Know About the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2024 Broadcast
Phil Spencer Really Wants Fans to Tune In
Building anticipation for a major game event is nothing new, but it’s not every day that one of the industry’s top executives personally urges fans to tune in. Just hours before Xbox’s scheduled presentation at Tokyo Game Show 2024, Xbox’s Phil Spencer released a brief 30-second video on the brand's official YouTube channel, calling on "players in Japan, across Asia, and around the world" to watch the event.
While this doesn’t necessarily signal any earth-shattering announcements, nor guarantee surprises, it does hint that Xbox plans to deliver an exciting showcase. When the head of a major company takes the time to personally rally fans, it’s safe to say the presentation is something worth watching—whether it’s for game reveals, new partnerships, or other surprises.
Mainline Title Announcements and Updates Likely
Despite Phil Spencer’s enthusiastic appeal for Xbox fans to tune in, details about what will be unveiled at tonight's presentation remain scarce. However, it's a safe bet that Xbox and Microsoft will spotlight some of their major upcoming titles, likely offering new trailers, gameplay footage, or even long-awaited release dates.
One of the strongest contenders is Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, easily one of the most anticipated releases of the year. Having already received an extended gameplay trailer and a prominent segment during Gamescom 2024, it's likely that its appearance at Tokyo Game Show will be more concise, though there's no set expectation for how long the segment will run.
Two other potential titles to watch for come from Bethesda. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, as well as the Starfield Shattered Space DLC, are both nearing release, with Shattered Space dropping in September and Great Circle scheduled for December. While these titles haven't enjoyed as much attention as Call of Duty, they could easily surprise fans with new reveals during the show. Keep an eye out for any exciting updates from these Bethesda projects.
