StarCraft: Remastered and StarCraft 2: Campaign Collection will be available for PC Game Pass later in the year on November 5. Xbox hopes to bring the genre-defining RTS series to new audiences with its addition to the company's subscription service. In addition to the free-to-play multiplayer features of both games, single-player campaigns will also be available on the platform. There are tons of journeys to delve into, with StarCraft 2: Campaign Collection alone packing in over 70 missions across its multiple DLC releases.

The StarCraft series has left a lasting impact not just only in the RTS genre, but in the grander scheme of gaming culture. "Ever since StarCraft first launched in 1998 and expanded with StarCraft II in 2010, the series has left an indelible mark on the real-time strategy (RTS) genre, esports, and the rise of live streaming," Xbox wrote in an announcement,"– and continues to enthral a very active and passionate community that is always looking to welcome new members into their ranks."

StarCraft also helped usher in the "birth of Twitch," the streaming platform's co-founder shared on Xbox Wire. "When the beta was finally released, a lot of people started streaming it on Justin.tv and I got hooked watching," they said. "Since we were trying to figure out what the next move for Justin.tv was, I began wondering if it would be possible to just focus on gaming content. That’s how StarCraft II was the first impetus for Twitch."

The announcement was made during Xbox's Tokyo Game Show 2024 showcase. Likewise announced during the event is the arrival of a roster of Square Enix RPG titles such as Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster, Trials of Mana, Legend of Mana, and more on Xbox.
