Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s story and gameplay have been leaked online by dataminers. Rocksteady Studios took to Twitter (X) to urge fans to avoid potential spoilers. Read on to learn more about the situation.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Leaked Early by Dataminers
Comic book nerds and gamers alike have been on the edge of their seats for the release of Rocksteady Studio’s upcoming third-person action shooter, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, since its announcement in 2020. While most are content to wait despite the game’s numerous delays, it seems some could wait no longer. Parts of the game’s story and gameplay elements have been leaked online by dataminers.
To do our part, we will be reporting what we can while avoiding giving any real spoilers.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Closed Alpha Tech Test Reveals Game Modes and Story Elements
It’s suspected that the leaks came from the game’s "closed alpha tech test" that ran from November 30 through December 3. Participants were restricted to a small, specific part of the game and were required to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) as an additional safety measure.
The leaks allegedly contain key story elements for the game, including major plot twists and the overall consequences of the game on the planned "Arkham-verse" from Warner Bros. The leaks also allegedly include the names, premise, and mechanics of several game modes, as well several characters that had not yet been presented in the trailers.
Much to Rocksteady Studios’ chagrin, however, the leaks persisted. They – alongside their parent company Warner Bros. – are currently doing everything they can to staunch the flow of datamined information.
Rocksteady Pleads For Fans to Stay Spoiler Free
Rocksteady Studios has come out with an official statement regarding the leaks, talking about their excitement for the game’s release and their immense disappointment about the whole situation. The statement also warns fans that the datamined information is out circulating and easy to stumble upon, and advises gamers to stay spoiler-free however they can.
"We hope everyone can play the game and experience each moment of the narrative for themselves," they said in their post. "And please try not to impact the enjoyment of other players by posting spoilers."
Warner Bros. also had an ace up their sleeve, using copyright claims to scrub the internet of the leaked audio and gameplay clips. It’s too early to tell how negatively this will affect the game’s official release. For now, it’s likely a good idea to steer clear of the leaks and do one’s part in keeping the game fun for everyone.
