Update 1.6 Is Not The Last, Says Creator

Stardew Valley developer Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone said that Stardew Valley’s story and updates are not yet over, in an interview with PC Gamer. "I feel like I could keep working on the game forever, every aspect of the game could be enriched," he stated, saying that it would be foolish to rule out the possibility of future updates.

But with that said, the future of Stardew Valley beyond the recent update is not yet planned. "I’m not going to say the book is closed. I don’t make big plans. I like to just see what happens." Stardew Valley fans, you can breathe a little easier now.

In addition to Stardew Valley, he also has a new game under his wing—the long-teased Haunted Chocolatier. He expressed his intent to focus on the new game, saying that after twelve years of working on Stardew, "at some point you have to move on and focus on something new."

Eight Years Of Phenomenal Success, And Counting

The game’s 1.6 update added a lot of new content, such as a new farm type, new festivals and events, more late game content, support for multiplayer up to eight people, and maximum compatibility with the plethora of mods (and counting) Stardew Valley fans have for the game, to name a few. It’s hard to believe that an update this packed with so much content is for a game that’s eight years old.

Stardew Valley was released in early 2016, which means it has been almost a decade since the smash hit has brightened up the lives of people of all ages. The pixel farming simulator holds a consistent 10/10 score on Steam, along with Overwhelmingly Positive reviews, and selling over 30 million copies around the world.

He addressed the vibrant modding community, saying that he is open to mods and fine with anyone making the mods they want to make. "The lore of the world and characters has taken on a life of its own beyond what I thought possible," he mused.

Then, on the topic of its success, Barone said, "It's great! I'm glad people like Stardew Valley so much. The more people enjoy it, the deeper they enjoy it, the happier I get."
