Marvel Rivals Celebrates its First Anniversary
Jeff Gets a Job for Marvel Rivals' First Anniversary

Marvel Rivals’ first anniversary is approaching, and the team at Netease is kicking off celebrations from November 28, 2025 with free in-game currency and an exclusive, limited-time Legendary tier skin for Jeff the Land Shark. The anniversary event, named "Galacta’s Gift Anniversary" also brings along a massive 18v18 game mode named "Conquest Annihilation, " which sees players duking it out on the brand new "Elder’s Garden" map.
The brand-new free Jeff the Land Shark skin, called "Jeff the Business Shark," sees the lovable little land shark all dressed up for his day job. The skin is based on his appearance in issue #37 of "It’s Jeff! Infinity Comics," where Jeff eats people’s garbage and gets paid in tips. It’ll release as a Legendary tier, meaning it will come with all new visual and sound effects for Jeff’s attacks.

The Rivals team is also giving away 2500 Units for free, in-game currency used to purchase cosmetics such as skins, emotes, and nameplates. Valued at 25 USD, 2500 Units is enough to buy a Legendary tier skin or even skin bundles for multiple characters.
This much free content is not unprecedented from Marvel Rivals, as the hero shooter has historically had an increasingly accessible cosmetics and microtransactions system through events and giveaways that grant free skins and in-game currency. This has helped Rivals maintain its hold as one of the most popular games on Steam, constantly averaging around 90,000-100,000 daily players on the platform.
Rivals Has a Few More Aces Up Its Sleeves

Marvel Rivals’ anniversary event follows the release of Season 5, titled "Love is a Battlefield." The new season introduces an iconic X-Men couple as playable characters; the Ragin' Cajun and card-slinging thief Gambit, and his wife, the power-draining Southern belle Rogue.
Gambit has been available to play since November 14, while Rogue is scheduled for release around December 12 with the launch of Season 5.5. Gambit joins the roster as a jack-of-all-trades Strategist, using a mix of healing, cooldown purification, and anti-heal mechanics to be a real wild card on the battlefield.

Alongside the release of Gambit is a new 100-player non-combat map named "Times Square," where players can socialize. There's also the limited-time Elders’ Chessboard Event, which lets players obtain Units and a free "Iron Spider" skin inspired by the iconic "Civil War" comic event just by playing matches in the game. There are also new paid skins for Magneto and Gambit available, with new skins for Doctor Strange and Magik releasing today.
Marvel Rivals is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PC. To find out more about Marvel’s multiversal hero shooter, read our article below:
