Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2’s Chapter Voice Pack 1 DLC launched alongside Patch 12.0 and has since sparked discussion among players. The patch itself introduced the Techmarine class, a new Operation, and additional cosmetic content.
Space Marine 2 Players Raise Concerns Over Chapter Voice Pack 1 Following Patch 12.0
Optional Voice Pack DLC Draws Criticism From Fans

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 rolled out Patch 12.0 on February 26, 2026. While the update initially generated excitement, much of the post-launch discussion has centered on one optional addition: the $5 Chapter Voice Pack 1 DLC. Patch 12.0 also introduced the Techmarine class, a new PvE Operation titled Disruption set on Avarax, and additional cosmetic content for the Raven Guard and Charcharodons Chapter.
Following its release, players across Steam and Reddit have reported instances where equipped DLC voices revert to a class’s default dialogue during certain objective interactions. Some users have also noted inconsistencies in squad banter, with certain lines not triggering as expected.

The criticism has led to a noticeable increase in negative Steam reviews, specifically on the DLC. While some players acknowledge that the performances themselves are strong, critics argue that the implementation feels unfinished for a paid add-on.
With that said, patch 12.0 brought new chapter-themed cosmetics and a Champion Pack for the Raven Guard. However, unlike most of the update’s additions, Chapter Voice Pack 1 is not included in the Season Pass and must be purchased separately.

According to developer Saber Interactive, the DLC includes 1,300 new voice lines "localized in 17 languages for text and 7 languages for voices," along with three helmetless Space Marine head cosmetics for the Blood Angels, Space Wolves, and Black Templars. Promotional materials also reference "450 re-recorded voice lines," though some players have questioned whether that figure represents unique lines in English or a cumulative count across supported languages.
Initial reaction to Patch 12.0 was largely positive, with players praising the Techmarine’s arrival and expressing curiosity about the new voice options. However, the reports of technical inconsistencies quickly followed.

Beyond these reports, a portion of the community has raised concerns regarding its presentation, including the absence of the franchise’s signature helmet filter effect and limited facial animation on the included helmetless head variants.
Despite the controversy, not all feedback has been negative. Some fans maintain that Patch 12.0’s additions, particularly the Techmarine and new Operation, outweigh the voice pack’s shortcomings. For now, the conversation around Chapter Voice Pack 1 appears ongoing, particularly around the advertised features that differ from the expected in-game implementation.
Saber Interactive Posts February Community Update

A day after the launch of Patch 12.0, a February community update was posted on the official Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 forums, recapping the newly added content and outlining what players can expect next.
As is customary with these updates, the developers included post-release notes addressing current issues and future plans. The team first discussed the Techmarine class, stating that "due to time constraints, we made the choice to focus on Techmarine’s gameplay rather than its customisation options." They added that additional cosmetic options for the class will be introduced in future updates.

The post also confirmed that a hotfix is scheduled for next week to address performance issues and a soft-locking bug affecting the new Disruption Operation. The team then briefly went over the newly added Operation before outlining the compatibility of the new cosmetics with other classes.
However, while Chapter Voice Pack 1 was mentioned in the update, Saber Interactive did not directly address player concerns surrounding the DLC in the post. The post reiterates the addition of new voice lines and chapter-specific head cosmetics, but does not comment on player concerns about implementation issues, missing helmet filters, or reports that equipped voices revert to default dialogue during mission objectives.

Some players have pointed out that the update did not directly address those concerns, but with a Techmarine hotfix already planned for next week, fans will likely be watching closely to see whether the reported voice-related issues are resolved in a future patch.
