inZOI NPCs Have Their Own Free Will

A "Complete Community Simulation"

inZOI developer Krafton reveals that the life sim game’s NPCs will be more realistic and human-like with the help of NVIDIA’s Ace AI technology. This AI technology will create advanced AI citizens that react to their environment and shape their behavior according to their own experiences.

In a video on NVIDIA GeForce’s official YouTube channel titled "NVIDIA ACE | inZOI - Create Simulated Cities with Co-Playable Characters" the trailer reveals just how these NPCs, called Smart Zoi, will be able to act on their own and give the city much more life if the player wishes. If turned on, these Smart Zois play an active role within the city, making decisions and having their own schedules and plans such as going to work, meeting up with friends, and more. Even when the main player character is not directly engaging with these Smart Zois, they will be able to influence one another.

For example, a Smart Zoi with a considerate personality will help out other Zois in need of help, buying them food or giving them directions. Similarly, an appreciative Smart Zoi will actively be a talented street performer’s hype person, gradually pulling in an audience. Players can then use the Thought system to examine the AI Zoi's thoughts to discover the motivation behind their actions. Then, at the end of each day, each Smart Zoi will analyze what they did for the day which will then influence their future behaviors.

"A collection of these unique Smart Zois guarantees a city that is vibrant and diverse, fostering unpredictable social interactions that create a rich and dynamic story driven simulation," the video concluded.

inZOI is set for release in Early Access on March 28th, 2025 on PC via Steam. For more information on inZOI, check out our articles on everything you need to know about the game!

Tango Gameworks Reopens Under Krafton

In relation to Krafton and their future plans, a studio has now officially opened under their wing—Tango Gameworks is now back and running in Tokyo. After being shuttered down by Microsoft in June of 2024 due to internal restructuring and layoffs, it was then acquired by Krafton two months later. Tango Gameworks is known for The Evil Within series, Ghostwire: Tokyo, and Hi-Fi Rush, all of which have reached generally favorable reviews, with Hi-Fi Rush even garnering significant success and several accolades.

The newly revived studio is now headed by Colin Mack, an industry veteran who was previously in Bethesda and THQ. With that said, the studio is starting off on a clean slate—they are now recruiting and expanding the team, actively seeking candidates for a number of positions on Krafton’s official website. If you’re a resident of Japan and are interested in being a VFX Technical Artist, Background Technical Artist, Animator, Systems Programmer, Character Artist, and the like, Tango Gameworks might just be the place for you.

All of these positions are crucial in game development, and with Tango Gameworks owning the rights to Hi-Fi Rush IP, a potential sequel might just be on the horizon. While The Evil Within and Ghostwire: Tokyo are no longer bound to the studio, players can still look forward to what other titles they have up their sleeves.
