Everything Announced at The Game Awards 2023

The Game Awards 2023 hosted a whole list of award-winning releases from 2023, but it also announced a bunch of upcoming games and updates. Read on to learn what games were announced and when they're going to be released.

Usual June

From developer Finji comes a story-based, 3D action game about a girl named June and her ghost friend. Join June as she uncovers Fen Harbor's deepest, darkest secrets to prevent a space-time cataclysm from ending the world.

Windblown

Brought to you by the creators of the indie hit Dead Cells, Windblown is a lightning-fast action roguelike made to test your reflexes and ferocity. With your cozy little island on the brink of being devoured, it's up to you to head out and face the frightful emissaries of the Vortex, or die trying.

Windblown's release date is yet to be announced, but its early access release will be available sometime in 2024 and can now be wishlisted on Steam.

Metaphor: ReFantazio

Metaphor: ReFantazio is an upcoming fantasy RPG brought to you by the creators of Persona 3, 4, and 5. Embark on a journey to protect your kingdom, forging alliances and facing harrowing foes along the way.

Metaphor: ReFantazio will be released sometime in the Fall of 2024 and was confirmed to be released for PC via Steam.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II

Ninja Theory’s Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice will be receiving its much-awaited sequel with Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II. Follow Senua once again as she embarks on a brutal and bloody journey through the raging winters of Viking-era Iceland.

Kemuri

Ikumi Nakamura unveiled her first independent project since her departure from Tango Gameworks - a futuristic action game with an amazing art style called Kemuri. TGA host Geoff Keighley revealed that this game is still very early in development as it currently doesn’t even have a publisher yet. Not much else is known about Kemuri at this time, but if its high-quality teaser is any indication, we’re in for a major treat.

Kemuri’s release date is yet to be announced.

Dragonball Sparking! ZERO

Bandai Namco comes out swinging with Dragonball Sparking! ZERO. This game promises to take the legendary gameplay of the Budokai Tenkaichi series to new heights and offers a wide roster of fighters to choose from.

POWER SURGE: SEGA REVEAL

Sega is coming out the gate with a flurry of new releases, including legendary titles from their classic catalog like Crazy Taxi, Golden Axe, Shinobi, Streets of Rage, and the fan-favorite Jet Set Radio.

The announced games are currently in development, with their release dates yet to be announced.

Visions of Mana

After 15 years of waiting, a new entry will be added to the Mana game series with Square Enix's Visions of Mana. Join our protagonist Val on a new adventure to accompany his friend to the fabled Tree of Mana.

Visions of Mana will be released sometime in 2024.

OD

From the legendary minds of Hideo Kojima and Jordan Peele comes OD, their latest project to grace our screens. Apart from an evocative trailer, not much else is known about the project, though, considering the caliber of the talents working behind the scenes, we can expect something monumental.

OD's release date is yet to be announced.

Black Myth: Wukong

Brought to you by the brilliant minds of Game Science, Black Myth: Wukong is an action-adventure adventure RPG rooted in Chinese mythology. The game's story is based on the Journey To The West - a famous piece of Chinese literature - and you'll be playing as the great Monkey King himself, Sun Wukong.

Black Myth: Wukong will be released on August 20, 2024, but can be wishlisted now on Steam.

Banishers: Ghost of New Eden

Focus Entertainment and DON'T NOD announced the release of Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, an action-adventure game focused on ghost hunting and communion with spirits. Delve into the mystical and supernatural as you solve increasingly harrowing cases as experts of the esoteric and undead.

Blade

Marvel comes out with yet another superhero game to join its ranks with Blade. This third-person action RPG will feature the titular Daywalker as he hunts in the ridden streets of Paris, France.

Blade is now in development, but its release date is yet to be announced.

Mecha BREAK

Hot on the heels of Armored Core 6's success in the Game Awards, Mecha BREAK is the new bot-battling game in town that will be filling in the Mecha-shaped hole in our lives sometime in the near future. Partake in pitched battles between massive mechas and equally massive weaponry.

Light No Fire

No Man's Sky's developer Hello Games just announced their latest project, a fantasy co-op multiplayer game called Light No Fire. Serving as the thematic antithesis to their previous game, No Man's Sky, Light No Fire features a fantasy aesthetic and a more grounded gameplay loop.

Light No Fire's release date is yet to be announced, but it can be wishlisted now on Steam.

Final Fantasy XVI DLC

FF XVI may not have won any awards, but it did receive the promise of two new upcoming DLCs: Echoes of the Fallen and The Rising Tide. While both expansions seem to occur just before the base game's ending, the former expansion focuses more on the "The Magitec War" while the latter features Leviathan, the long-lost summon missing from the game's campaign.

Echoes of The Fallen was released at the time of the announcement, and The Rising Tide will be released in Spring 2024.

THE FINALS

Embark Studios just announced that their newest free-to-play arena-style FPS - The Finals - is now available to play on Steam. Fight other contestants in the world's most hectic gameshow. Win firefights in massive arenas that you can alter or even destroy. Take your enemies down and prove that you have what it takes to win The Finals.

Monster Hunter Wilds

To cap off the many announcements during the Game Awards, Capcom presented the trailer for their latest project and one of the biggest upcoming games to come from the event, Monster Hunter Wilds. Not much information is known about the game yet apart from the trailer, but if Capcom's most recent MH games are any indication, we're in for a treat come 2025.

Monster Hunter Wilds will be released sometime in 2025.
