Elden Ring Nightreign launches with over 300,000 players in its first hour. Read on to learn more about the game’s concurrent player peak and its day-one patch content.
Elden Ring Nightreign is Out Now!
Over 300,000 Players in 60 Minutes

Elden Ring Nightreign is a highly anticipated game, and over 300,000 players played it immediately within its first hour. As per its SteamDB page, 297,313 players played the game when it launched, and this number rose to 313,593 players in just 60 minutes.
Comparatively, its current numbers are a third of Elden Ring’s all-time concurrent player peak. Although this is the case, it’s quite surprising to reach these numbers given its Metacritic rating of 77. This makes Nightreign the lowest-rated FromSoftware game in years, given their latest titles have been highly rated, such as Sekiro in 2019 (90), Elden Ring in 2022 (96), and Armored Core VI in 2023 (86).
Here at Game8, we gave Elden Ring Nightreign an 84 out of 100 for its unique twist of bringing FromSoftware’s savage Soulsborne grit into a whirlwind of multiplayer chaos that keeps you playing round after round. Despite some chinks in its co-op and solo runs, though still fun, tip into wild imbalance—leaving you bruised, battered, and beyond tarnished. However, the game being a multiplayer co-op suggests that its concurrent player count could be consistently high in the coming weeks, especially since one playthrough would require mostly three players playing at the same time. There are also plans to bring a two-player option in a future update.
Moreover, some regions have just released the game, and console releases are also coming in later today, so those numbers may still rise. It will take a couple of days before the overall data from FromSoftware or data sites comes out, so it may be too soon to draw any conclusions about the new co-op Soulsborne.
Patch Notes Version 1.01
Following the game’s launch, FromSoftware has released a day-one patch to improve gameplay and stability. In a Twitter (X) post on May 29, the developers announced that Patch 1.01 is now available for all platforms.
According to the patch notes on their website, the update contains improved handling of playable characters, soundtrack additions and adjustments, text changes, and balance updates. They also added character scenarios and noted some bug fixes, but have not listed them.
Furthermore, they have received reports of some PC configurations with the latest graphics cards experiencing frame rate drops. FromSoftware is currently investigating the issue, and suggested that in the meantime, to adjust the default "High" graphics settings to either "Medium" or "Low," and to lower the screen resolution.
Elden Ring Nightreign is now available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. To stay up to date with the latest information about the game, check out our article below!
