⚫︎ Elden Ring Nightreign The Forsaken Hollows DLC is a little bit harder than the base game, but still offers a fair challenge says Director Junya Ishizaki. FromSoftware also made efforts to address the balancing issues of the game prior to the DLCs release.
⚫︎ FromSoftware director Junya Ishizaki acknowledged the studio’s long-running “swamp obsession” meme ahead of the first major Elden Ring: Nightreign DLC, The Forsaken Hollow. The joke dates back to the 2009 release of Demon's Souls, with swamp zones also appearing in later hits like Bloodborne.
⚫︎ Elden Ring: Nightreign's first DLC, The Forsaken Hollows, is releasing on December 4, 2025 including two new playable characters called the Scholar and Undertaker, two new undisclosed bosses, and a new location called "Shifting Earth: The Great Hollow."
⚫︎ FromSoftware's parent company, Kadokawa, stated that they will take Elden Ring: Nightreign even further with its upcoming DLC. The company is aiming for future sales growth

Elden Ring: Nightreign Overview
Elden Ring: Nightreign is a spin-off of FromSoftware’s acclaimed 2022 title, and it officially launched on May 30, 2025, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. This three-player cooperative action RPG retained the signature Soulslike mechanics that defined the original while introducing a more team-focused experience.
Players assume the roles of one of eight pre-defined characters known as Nightfarers, each with a unique name, appearance, stat build, skill set, weapon arts, and starting equipment. From there, they can choose to cooperate with their team to navigate the perils ahead or explore independently to hunt for items and level up, regrouping as needed.
Set in Limveld, a shadow-drenched parallel realm of Limgrave, the game plunges players into a world steeped in mystery and menace. With the rise of the Nightlord threatening to plunge the realm into further chaos, each Nightfarer embarks on a journey shaped by their own distinct backstory and personal mission.

Gameplay Overview
Elden Ring: Nightreign will be an online co-op survival action game, centered around surviving in a 3-man team over three days. Players will take on the role of Nightfarers, build up their characters through exploration during the day, and then wage life or death boss battles each night, winning only once the final boss on the third night is felled.
Elden Ring: Nightreign seems to play very similarly to the original Elden Ring with difficult soulslike combat, the abillity to cast spells, and the luxury of customizing the player's character freely. However, it will also feature a three-player co-op functionality, distinguishing itself from the mostly single-player experience of its predecessor.
Each unsuccessful run rewards players with relics, allowing them to customize and upgrade their characters to suit their unique playstyles.
